Wellenstein wins
Wauzeka two-day trial
By J.D. Shults
WAUZEKA, Wl,jUNE24-25
Illinois wunderkind Jesse Wellenstein invaded
Wisconsin to snare victories at both days of the
two-day trial at Mark Ooll's farm in Wauzeka.
The Gas.Gas USA/Rising Sun Imports/
Hebo Oothing-sponsored 12-year-old dropped
only 15 marks in the Intermediate class on Saturday to best Phil McDowell's 17-point effort.
McDowell, riding his first trials on a recently
purchased Beta Zero, dogged Wellenstem all
afternoon, and Wellenstein almost blew it when
he misread the split sign in section six.
