a doubt the dominant 60cc racer of the
weekend, but a mistake in moto one
opened the door for Billy Swapp, who
was able to capitalize on Bess' error and
capture one class victory on Saturday.
Swapp won the 60cc Stock 9-]] race, but
Bess returned with a vengeance and
recorded the remaining seven of eight
motos he competed in en route to the 60cc
alional Championship.
Bess also battled all weekend long
with Honda rider Dylan Lord and Bobby
Bonds in the 80cc 7-11 class. Bess
swapped class wins on Saturday with
Lord. Bess won the Modified class, while
, Lord topped the Stock class. Bess locked
up the 80cc 7-11 National Championship
by posting overall wins on Sunday in the
Stock and Modified classes, where he
beat heavy favorite Bonds.
Over ]00 racers filled the gate in the
50cc events, making it the largest class of
the weekend. The micro racers were all
competing for a new K1M SXR.50 which
would be awarded to the 50cc racer who
accumulated the most points throughout
the weekend.
In the end, Mike Alessi won aU eight
motos he entered in the 50cc 4-6 division
and topped 7-8 class champ Chris Nihan
by a margin of six points. Dennis Jonon
accumulated the third-highest total by
finishing second in each 4-6 race, and he
went on to celebrate hi seventh birthday
on Sunday when he won a new Kawasaki
mountain bike in the Team Green raffle.•~
