Aboard a Harley-Davidson appropriately named "Snortster Ill," Chuck NeinIeldt blew away the competition in the Open class. Neinfeldt sat in Ilrst place after the Ilrst round with a 4.55, but was knocked to second by Cipala's Open class Harley's run of 4.43. With encouragement from the crowd, Neinfeldt came back in the second half at 4.29 to tie up the victory. Mike Wood was hoping for a fourth consecutive win in the 80 Open, for the day's 10 fastest riders, and he got just what he wanted. Wood, aboard a Honda CRSOO, went over the rocky hill in only 3.43 seconds for Ilrst place, and an 80 Open shutout of sorts by winning the 80 Open at every District 16 hillclimb in 1995. Hi1IrwY Vilandrys victorious at Clovis Motocross By P.A. Johnson UOVlS,NM.JUNE 18 The father-and-son duo of Bob and Sean Vilandry piloted their Bullet Cycles-sponsored machines to wins in the 30+ Band 60cc B classes, respectively, during Father's Day festivities at the Oovis Sportcycle Complex. Steve Daugherty grabbed the holeshot with his Yamaha in the first 30+ moto with Bob Vilandry, Gary Spencer, and Tracy Womack In pursuit. Daugherty and ViJandry distanced themselves while Spencer tried to hold off a relentless Womack. On the third lap, Womack finally found an opening at the exit of a left-hander and drove past Spencer over the small double. The top three at the checkers were Daugherty, Vilandry, and Womack. Daugherty and Vilandry got off even at the start of the second moto, but Vilandry ended up with the lead when Daugherty went down in the first turn. Daugherty remounted in last place and started an impressive charge through the field. On lap three, Daugherty caught race leader Vilandry as they entered a left-hand hairpin at the end of the main straight: Daugherty took a high line on the berm but lost the front end and went down leaving Vilandry all alone for the race and class win. In 60cc B action, Sean Vilandry outclassed and outdistanced his competition, taking his wins in both motos by almost one lap. The race behind Vilandry between Zack Dyer and Matthew Strickland for second place was tight In both motos, but Dyer was able to put his Kawasaki ahead of Strickland's each lime. Results 250 EX: 1.
