SChwartz returns to Speedway USA By Michael Maher VICI'ORVJLLE, CA, JUNE 17 Boogalooisback. . After missing the first few weeks of the 1995 Speedway USA season, Bobby "Boogaloo' Schwartz returned to the high desert track with a vengance as he captured victory in the Scratch main event, winning one of the most competitive and exciting main events of the year so far. The lineup for the sq-atch main was impressive as Schwartz faced off against Gary Hicks, local hero john Aden and Charlie Venegas, who was shooting for his fourth straight scratch main victory. Schwartz got the jump on the start, but Aden and Venegas hung on, shadowing the two-time National Champion and making numerous attempts to pass. Schwartz repelled all competitors' efforts and crossed the finish line inches ahead of Venegas and Aden while Hicks went d.own and missed out on the dose finish. The Handicap main event got off to a scary start as jerry Black lost control and went into the wall, catching Greg Ayers in the process. Both riders hit hard but both were okay and able to make the restart. Randy Evans then got the holeshot on the field. While Andy Northrup moved into second and made a few attempts to pass, Evans held him off and took the victory with Northrup second, Schwartz third, Aden fourth, Black fifth and Ayers ending with sixth spot. Tony Wood won the Support class main but the star of the race was Mike Dalbey as he came from the high yardage to dispatch the field one by one to move into second behind Wood, coming up just short as Wood took the checkered flag. David Lynch led all but the most important lap in the Support Beginner main event as he took the lead off the start a.nd appeared headed to victory until Sydney Payne caught and passed him in the last comer of the last lap and OUl-; 3.
