~Os)IHIlIMUIA An Asian invasion atPerris MX By Tony Alessi PERRIS,CA. MAY']] Japanese racer Tak ateru Atsuta led a foreign invasion by winning both 250cc Pro motos during the GR Super Saturday MX at Perris Racewa y. Atsuta had his ultra fast 250cc Honda out in front of the 250cc Pro class by the end of the first lap in moto one . From that point forward Atsuta was never headed and went on to a convincing moto victory. Larry Linkogle wa s arguably the fa stest rider on the tra ck , and he proved hi s speed with 0.1 charge that carried him from outside the top 10 to a so lid second -place finish in fro nt of Steve Andri ch, Pete Murray, Steve Drew and Ryuch i Yamada . In t he se co n d mot o, vet race r Murra y shocked the field with a surprise holeshot . Mur ray further confused the group of hungry p ros by leadin g for the next seven laps. Though Murray did give wa y to Atsuta, he did re ma in in contention for the rest of the moto, finishing t hi r d behi nd overa ll winner A tsuta a nd Linkogle. . Morr is, Pennsylvan ia for the weekend and a record-breaking number of rid ers, 1200, signed up to compe te in Saturday's amateur racing schedule. The A classes set the stage for a da y of fierce battl ing with almost a full ga te in both classes and local ride rs dominating the action. In 12Scc A ac tion, Shane Lawson sho we d tha t he had what it took for a win, blowing away the rest of the pack from the get-go in mota one, and allowing th e ba tt ling to go on for second be tween loca l Team Green riders Jam es Evans and Josh Sweat. In rnoto two Evans ca me ou t wit h the upper hand afte r Lawson cras hed two laps into the race, allowing him to capture the overall. The 250cc A class looked much like the 12Scc motos minus Lawson , with Sweat and Evan s ba tt ling up front in both motos, however , the chec kers in this class went to Sweat. The B classes were full of big nam e riders, and even tho ug h they were div ided into three different motos - the battles were still frequent with riva ls in each of the motos to keep .things exci ti ng . Tea m Green-backed Brock Sellards wen t home with the overa lls in both group one 125 and 250cc Bclasses. The SOcc div ision classes gave fans a taste for the up coming Loretta Lynn's Amateur Nationals wi th mini wonders like American Suzukibacked Travis Pastrana , who rode his heart out in the (7-11 ) division - leaving second pla ce some 30 seconds behind by lap two. Much like his (7-11) moto Pastrana do mina ted the Supermini class, gaining four mote wins for the day .
