Lois, Kloepping, Ezerins roost at Aztalan Motocross By Andrew Bu ssen LAKE MlU's , WI, MAY 14 Eron Ezerins rocked the 125cc A class by scoring the ove ra ll win in the 125cc A d ivision at AztaIa n Cycle Park's a nnual Mo ther 's Da y race. Ezerins also top ped the 250cc A dass. In the first mot a of the 125cc A dass, Bowman feU victim to Roy Nafzger, Er ic Nelson a nd Jason Wa rner. Beh in d him, the d early faster trio of Brad Jeromi nski Emn Ezcrins and Karte r Busse were p icking off riders in every comer. By the th ird lap , Naf zger an d Ezerins were pu lling away from the pack, and it was evident that Na fzger was feeling the heat and catching glimpses of a gree n front fender in every corne r. Nafzge r took a di gger , a ttempting the double befo re the plateau a nd Ezerins cruised to th e chec kers. Jero mins ki took second followed by Busse and Todd Maye r. Nafzger salvaged fifth place in the first moto. Bowman holeshot the second 12Scc A moto followed by Scott Nicoso n. Yoho and Thomas pulled aw ay from Ha milton to battle for the lead w ith Yoho ad d ing to his lead with each lap !o score the first moto win ahead of Tho mas a nd Ha milton . In other racing action Dustin Lynn and Cody Roth squa red off in the 60cc class. Lynn led the first mot o, with Roth falling ear ly in the race . Roth was cha rgi ng for the point posi tion with t wo la ps to go , bu t as the HSKS team mates en tered the whoo ps , Roth mot ored by for the lead and win ove r Lynn. In the second moto, Lynn shot into the lead with Roth eating his roost. Roth pressured Lynn for two laps, un til Lynn slow ly pulled away for the mo to win and overaU win. VINT 125: 1. james Ha m cr (Ho n l Laughridge back on top at Cycleland Supercross By Rex Harris CHl O C ,CA,MAYI9 Suzuki mounted Evan Laughridge rod e his Jesse Mach ine-backed RMBO to a hard -fou ght win in . th e ope ning rou nd of Cyclela n d's Su m me r Supercross se ries. Warm temperatu res and a newly re-vamped track greeted the 100 or so rid ers wh o have been wa iting for the see mingly never-ending rain to quit, and as has bee n the norm, the hotly contested 80ec class provided so me of the most exciting actio n of the nigh t. At the drop of the ga te it was Suzuki pilot Seth Kirby lead ing to the first turn, but the lead was short-lived as bot h Jesse Olse n and laughrid ge flew by Kirby throu gh the whoops. Eric Nye a nd Chris McAvoy dove under Kirby in the next turn, pushing him back to fifth. By the time the lead ers crossed the start/finish line to comp let e la p o ne , Kawasaki ri der Jos h Ho lt ha d moved pas t Kirby to take over fifth spot. Back up front Ol sen, Lau ghri d ge a nd Nye bega n to pull away from the fierce ba ttle raging behind them a mo ng McAvoy, Holt, and a charging Matt Morgan, who had wo rked his way up from a poor start to move into fifth by the end of lap two. On la p three, Laughridge mad e his move. running up the inside of Olsen, taki ng him right to the top of a berm, and then block·passing to take the lead. Behind them, Morgan jumped past McAvoy in the whoops to take over four th. A couple of laps lat er, Olsen got a little out of shape on the a pp roach to a d ouble and had to back off. Nye seized his chance and jumped into seco nd. Morgan was ab le to get past McAvoy for th ird as the "Mac Attack's" Suzuki came to a screeching halt in front of the main grandsta nd . Mark Cooper (Hon) . ny .Pederson rocks MX Kingdom By Brenda Miller ADEL, lA, MAY 13 Iowa's own pro rid er Cha d Ped erson showed u p a t the first race of the season at MX Kingdom. No t only d id Iowa's own pro rider, Cha d Pederson, show up to race and wi n at MX Kingdom but also to ha ve some fun . Pederson d id both as he signed in to race all the mo ney classes he could a nd also raced a fou r-stro ke (thou gh he was not sco red) in the Run -wh at-you-brung class. In the 12Scc A heat race it was n't Pederson that got th e ho lesh ot , it was loca l ride r Rob Brcka that grabbed the holesh ot and the early lead. Brcka only he ld the lead a sho rt time as Pederson took over and ran away fro m everyone else. Brcka wo uld finish the heat race in second place. In the main it was all Pederson, who grabbt.'
