Sunday's event offered great view ing of the new upper mid-section course layout and big air leaps d own the famed Horsepower Hill. Morning p ractice sessions found the returning champions testing their skills and bike setups in the technical sections of d ouble jumps into a stepdown jump and through the off camber sweeping turn. Shepard s how ed the classes throu gh th e new sec tions with sty lin' leaps and precise timing. Th e Team D.A.R.E./Suzuki-backed pil o t rode the first few lap s of the 125cc Expert class ex t rem e ly fast, ne ver more than a w h eel off pa ce as the lead rid ers pu lled aw ay from the field . Klopp Gets Pair atTrail-Way ST By Len Breech Pho tos by Ben Breec h HANOVER, PA, M AY20 After having a little tro ubl e hol ding on to the lead earlier in the season, Mike Klopp has recove re d lat el y , a nd he took his seco n d -s traigh t 600cc A class win and also topped the "anything goes" Sportsman class at Trail-Way Speed way. Roy Mill er put th e Ke n ny Yod er-o w ned Rotax in front of Jim Hollister and Klopp in the eariy stages of the 600cc A final. Klopp took second early on the second lap, and grabbed the lead at the end of the fourth lap . Hollister took seco nd away from Miller half a lap later, locking in the top three positions as the MRT/ Diem' s and fi sher 's Cycl e / RBL/Pa radi se Truck Tir e/Kenn y Mohler-backed Klopp scored the victory. With a 'regiona l in Ohio running on the sam e night, both the Pro and Spo rts man classes were d own as Rick Win sett gra bbed th e lead over Klopp and Tod d Winsett. Klopp slowly worked his way int o the lead by the fourth lap, w ith Tod d Winsett getting by his cousin for second on the sixth lap as Klopp naile down another win. d Making his fir st sta rt in ove r a yea r w as . Klopp's teammate, Warren Diem, who showed no sig ns of "track rust" in destroyin g th e 30+ class on the team's Rotax. Th e 250cc Beg in ner s put on a sho w tha t wasn't ob viou s from the fini shing positi on s, as Duane Robinson won both mot os, Bobby Klimitchek finis hed second twi ce, and Josh Robinson took third bo th tim es. Shawn McCurdy w as fourth in the first m oto, but fell to ninth in th e second . Darren War d of Boern e missed the first moto, but took fourth in the second.
