Danny Guernsey nailed the first 125cc Intermed iate holeshot ahe ad of Loren Jenkins, Shawn O'Brien and Sweany. The opening lap provided the most acti on as Jenkins and O 'Brien went a roun d Guernsey to run one-two whil e Sweany had problems and dropped back to sixth behind Ch ris Neitzel and Tony Green. Sweany regained his composure and repas sed Nei tzel and Green a nd dosed in on Gu ernsey. A lap later Swean y took over third place, but there was no catching the two front-ru nners . O'Brie n sta rted th e second mot o w here he left off in the first, out front. Sweany was running a close seco nd with Jenkins and Guernsey waiting for a mistake to happen. Swea ny stu died O' Brien's lines for a few laps before makin g his way to the lead at the ha lfway point. Sweany took the win and the overall hon ors wi th a 3-1 s score over the 2·2 rid e of Jenki ns . Martin KI OMM'T ) By Jim and Caro lyn Simpson 44 YAPHANK, NY,MAY 13 Kershal and Jeren Anthony used a 1-2 punch to dominate the Senior Mini Oass and claim first and seco nd place overall. Christian Topping started moto one with the lead , but Kershal Anthony quickly took over as Topping backed off d ue to throttle p roblems. Jeron Anthony the n moved up into second to chase after the leader, his olde r bro ther Kersha1. Wayne Frie and Denis Sorrenti no formed t he pair trailing the leaders through the sandy back section. The lead positions remained unchanged throughout the moto as Kershal Anthony scored th e win and the younger Jero n p laced secon d . Frie rounded the top th ree to co mplete mota one. Topping again motored his Honda into the lead to kick off mot o two . Jeron Anthony moved in to se cond as Kershal Anthony followed in th ird . Moto-one winner Kershal quickly moved a head into seco nd and then jumped ahea d of Topping for the lead . Topping then wa s dro pped to third as the othe r haU of the Anthony team, Jeron th ro ttled to seco nd. Frie an d Sorren tino then moved up to settle in the third an d fou rth place positions: The EMR-backed Team Anthony pu lled off the top two spots again as Kers hal scored the win and the overall and Jeron placed seco nd . Mike Peat and Ed Hololob provided the excite ment in the Pro class ranks. Afte r winning the 250cc overalL Peat continued his battle wit h Ho lolob in to the second 125cc Pro moto. Sweany scores twice at Sunrise Motocross By Greg Robertson AD ELANIO, CA, MAY14 Brian Sweany probably mad e his mother proud on thi s Mother's Day by winning th ree out of four motos entered to top bo th the 80cc (12-16) and 12Sce Intermediate classes during the second rou nd of California Racing Cl ub 's 18t h annua l Dunestown Series at Sunrise Valley Raceway . It took Sweany just over a lap to find a way around fast start er Levi Reid in the first SOcc (1216) mota, a nd once out fro nt he would pull away un contested for the win. Micha el Young a nd Dustin Ryley argued over third until the ha lfway po int whe n Ryley dropped out of the race. Reid ended up taking second over Young and Dusty Walters. Mota two began much the sa me as the first outing, wit h Reid leading Sweany and Young . Sweany quickly put the move on Reid to take over the top spot followed a short time later by Young.
