race seemed to be a foregone conclusio n
to everyone but Davis whose bike beg an
blowi ng oil on the second lap. "My goal
was to ge t by Larry and pu t as much
time on him as possible before I pi tted . I
was su rprised tha t it last ed the w hole
race. The re was oil all over." To celebrate, Davis trea ted the crow d to a KLXstyle nac-na c over the water ju mp on the
last lap. Hond a's Johnny Cam pbell took
the ru nner-up slot over Brent Avis.
The 250cc race followed, and Davis
