Jimmy Warrft\ By Rex Harris Omanns double Grantsburg Motocross finale By TIm McBride Photo by Mac GRANTSBURG, WI, OCT.23 Lucas Omann and Matt Omann each sco red 1-2 mote finis hes to earn overall victories in their respective classes, as the Straight Arrows MX club hosted the final District 23 motocross race of the season in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. In the first USee C moto , Eric Kowalik raced to the checkers in first pla ce followed closely by Lucas Omann, James Weisbrod and Jeff Ryde r. In the seco nd moto, Lucas Oma nn had to pull off a wi n to earn the overall, a nd that is exactly what he d id . After the start, Matt Losen was out front early and looked to be on his way to an easy win , but he cras hed ou t of contention on the third la p. That left th e elder Omann, Matt, in control for the rest of the race. Afte r finishing sixt h in the first moto, Cagiva-mounted Ray Osowski p ut together a strong performance to finish second just behind Lucas Omann, earning th ird overall. Kowal ic' s th ird- pl ace fin ish was good eno ugh for second- place honors. Durin g Mini Jun ior racing action, And rew Miller was chased to the flag in the first moto by Ma tt Omann and Mike Evenson. Mark Molitor carved his way thro ugh the pack from seve nth p lace to finish a dist ant fourth by race's end . In the secon d moto, Matt Omann quickly gra bbed the holesho t a nd motored away to sco re an un contested gate-to -flag victory by a com fort ab le margin . Miller was running second until a late- race charge from Molitor brought him onto Miller's rear fender. As the duo sped to the flag, Mol itor pu lled to the ou tside of Miller in a n atte mp t to pick up second, but Molitor came up a bi ke len gth short.
