Series roared into town for its season fina le.
Davis rod e to a n unco n tes ted victory ov er
so me of the fastest racers in mo torcy cling. The
$20.00<> purse drew pros from all over the Uni ted States and Canada.
In the main. Davis ma de the pe rfect launch
and grabbed the holeshot. Chris Evans and Ian
Segedy fou ght it o ut for the seco nd spot. Willie
McCoy also slid his XR750 in on the hee ls of the
leaders. Robert Lewis was tryi ng to recov er from
a ba d start as he p icked h is wa y towa rd s th e
fro n t. Kris Kiser was ha vin g tro uble w ith /he
d ew slickened track th o ug h he hel d o n to hi s
pla ce in line .
Davis pulled ahead wit h an imp ress ive lead,
bu t w ith four laps remaining a rid er went down
in tum three, bringing ou t the cau tion flags. On
the restart, the sta rter signa led Da vis that he
co u ld go a t a ny time to star t the ra ce ag ai n.
Davis took off, but the res t of the pa ck hesitated
before they realized that Davis had been the one
to beginth e race and no t the starter.
Wi th only four la ps re mai ni ng , Davis ran
wa y ou t front w hile Evans a nd Segedy were ba ttling for the second spot, followed by McCoy
and Lewis. When the checkered flag came ou t,
Davis too k the win and Eva ns settled for seco nd
p lace . Seg edy, McCoy and Lewis rounded ou t
the top five.
