held, with the big news from the meeting being
that classes fo r 1995 will be in line with other

Intermediate, Advanced, Expert and Ch ampionship di visions will be run. The ad d ition of
the Advanced class sho u ld ma ke for an easier
transition than jump ing d irectly from Interm ediale to Expert .

Casey Burt on , also on a Honda 600, and
Harry Pratt got good starts and battled for the
lead un til Tyer, having worked his wa y through
the field, took the first spo l with an outside poss
on next-to-last I.p a nd went on to the checkered
flag.
The 14-year-<>ld Tye r didn't ma ke the same
starting error in the 250cc Ama teur class, but he
still had heavy pressure from more experienced
riders Bill W.lker and Burto n again. But on th is
g lass-smooth and well-p re pa re d t rac k, no
amo unt _ experience or good riding could ge t
of
Walker or Burton aro und Tyer, who again led 10
checke red flag.
With a full field of bikes, the Open Pro closs
was the closest of tile night, w ith a blanket coveri ng Ty Howa rd , Willie McC o y and Scott
Scherd . The th ree ra n as a group un til the ninth
of th e 12-l a p ra ce, w he n McCoy go t und er
Ho ward for the lead . Howa rd mai ntained second, and Scherb finished third.

and there was less than a minute betwee n them.
By the end of the third lap, Hess had passed all
the other riders an d pull ed out to a three- minu te
lead to take the win.
The 250cc A class was w o n by Wesle y
Mo ran, who kep t the lead af ter battling wi th
Alan McNutt and Mike Romans .
The 250/5OOcc C class was also a good TOce
to ~ yo ur eyes on . jerry Presley was first off
the Ime, b ut_he wa s forced to battl e with Eric
Hytinen and Terry Simpson before p u tting a

two riders, then going on for the win .

Dan McD onnell and Billy Ma rt in sha red the
spo tligh t in the winner's circle a t the Lodi M.C p romoted TT race at the Lodi Cycle Bowl.

Expe rt race, while Ma rtin aced the compe tition
in the Pro race .
A tota l of 17 rid e rs lined up for the Open
Expert main event, with three full rows waiting
for the starti ng light to tum green. It was Bobby
McDowell wi th the qu ick thro ttle han d, as he led
the pack of rid ers off the line and to the "Tree
Turn." McDowell held the lead for th ree laps
until McDonn ell was able to overtoke him and
lead a five-rider pack tha I had bro ken away from
the rest of the field. McDonnell held the lead, but
behind him the race for second place was heating
up . Martin, the fifth rider in the lead group, was
trying hard to move up thro ugh the infield portion of the race track, but he got out of sha pe and
crashed , leaving a th ree-w.y battle for second
tha t even tually fell to Greg Miller, who passed
McDo well in th e cl o sing laps . Mc Do n nell
motored to a relativel y easy win . Martin was not
to be outdo ne in the Pro /Pro-Am class, howev er,
as he immediately gra bbed the holcshot and held
off McD onnell to take the wi n. Lonnie Paul y
roun ded out the top three.
Action in the l OOcc A/B class was fast-paced
with a good tu rnout of rid er s dicing it out in
fin al p repara tio n fo r th e Lod; Mot orcycle
Club/Engines Only Mini-National that will take
place on October 23. Toby jorgensen has domi nated this d oss all year, and tonight was no different. jo rgensen pull ed off a wire- to-wi re win
over rival Frank Nye as both riders pulled away
from the rest of the mod ified mini-racers. Anthony DeMa rio won the B po rtion of the evenl.
