Procida Todd Myers (301), the 125cc Expert winner, sets up to pass Open Expert Bill Wright (923) at the Powell Ranch CC. scale the treacherous dirt bank, but the only rider to exit the end cards on loop one wa s Moore, who scored a clean ride by launching off of a small dirt mound several feet in front of th e bank and catapulting his bike, front wheel high in the air, at the top of the wall. Few riders att empted thi s section on the second and third loops, with even fewe r making it through. A large contingent of spec tators were treated to spectacu la r rides all weekend as the hosting North Texas Trials Association organized the course so that it looped back into the centralized start/finish area several times each lap . Sections . varied from "a ll-out" hill climbs to tight turns with rock steps requiring plenty of trick riding . to negotiate. In an attempt to produce more National-quality riders from the area , the CRTA has em phasized tougher sections w ith more trick riding for its region al eve nts . The plan is paying off with several up-and-coming riders, hea ded by Moore, making a dent in NATC competition this year. The seri es, in its eighth yea r, includes twoday events in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas and crowns class champions in six classes plus a n overall central regional champ. Results Saturday C·SHIP : 1. The 10.4-mile loop was tight and one-lined with most of the course made up of silty sa nd . Starts would be cri tica l, and the holesh ot king too k a dva ntage. The Yamaha Suzuki of Texas/MSR/TR/ DBs..backed Hoenshell left everyone in his wake from the start,. putting 30 secon ds betw een hims elf and Lane on the first lap . The twisty stuff didn't fa vor Lan e's sty le, and Hoenshell added to his lead every lap. After more than two hours of racin g, Hoenshell's mar gin of victory was nearly four minutes. Further back in the Pr o p a ck , action was much closer. Jeremy Fipps mad e a d a red evil pass on Scott Stidd for third. Fipps was tired of eating Stidd 's dust and held it wide-open on one of the few stra ights. A kicker near the end mad e Stidd let off, a nd Fipps blew by too close for Stidd's comfort. Clifford Goe rtz beg an pressuring Stidd for fourth near the end, but a lapped rider would make th e d ifference. Stidd tried to squeeze by when the lapper wouldn 't yield, and Stidd hit the ground hard and flattened his pipe. Stidd managed to rem ou nt in time to hold on to fifth. The 30+ Expert start sa w Larry Dodson put . his KX250 in front of the Yama ha 's of Darryl Smith and Bob by Southard. Dodson would eventually take the wi n, but Smith reb ounded from getting lost earl y to pass Sou tha rd for second p lace by the end of the ra ce. Results PRO: 1. Oay Hoerehell (Suz); 2.
