Procida MORENO VALLEY, CA,AUG. 6 Shawn Scott and Andy Rasmussen gav e it their all while swapp ing moto wins, but it was the allimportant second -mote win that gave Scott the ove ra ll victo ry in th e 12 to 16-year-old 80cc Beginner class at the Starwest Supercross facility during round nine of the Suzuki-sponsored Ford Tru ck Giveaway Series. In moto one, Scott came smoking out of the gate to grab the holeshot, but it was a sho rt-lived lead as Rasm ussen came screa ming up the face of the gra ndsta nd d oub le and so a red up a nd over Scott for the lead. Rasmussen bega n to pu ll out to a comfortable lead tha nks to the fearless attitude in whi ch he attacked the big do uble. With Scott off the pace. c.J. Tlsinger closed in. bu t a qui ck glance to the rear had Scott back on the gas and pulling aw ay from his challenger. As the mote came to a close, Rasmussen was seen sty ling ove r the jumps and Scott, a lonely seco n d , h eld th e ga p b etwee n h imse lf a n d Tlsin ger. Rounding out the top five were Benjamin Rose and last week 's winne r Sean Peer. Scott again stormed to the fron t of the pack to take lead in th e second mo to, while Rasmussen suffered a mid -pack start and was b usy . tryin g to improve on his po sition . Tisinge r gated the number-two slot a nd was a coup le of bike lengths behind the leader. Even as the rid ers in Rasmussen's p ath we re dropped back by the har d-ch arging Ya maha ride r, there we re still a couple of competi tors tha t were determined no t to let Rasm ussen pass them by wi tho ut a fight Rose held off the hard-charger for a lap-anda-half before being passed in the rockers. Tisinger fared a little better holding back Rasmussen for over two laps before Rasmussen outpowered and ou ljum ped Tisinger over "The Laun cher." Th is left only Scott between Rasmussen and the overa ll victory. Rasmussen kicked his Yamaha into high. but with only one lap left to close the gap and make a pass, the odds were against him. m (Kaw ). 60 (9-11): 1. Nick Alvarez (Ka w); 2. Cal e Wa lk e (Kaw ); 3.
