Wesley Boyd and his Suzu ki 125 shot out to the lead w ith Burkhart on his tail and Brad Marlatt, on a KXl25, in third going to the uphill right -hander in the first molo. Two turns later, Burkhart dove inside and stole the lead from Boyd as Boyd elected to rail the outside berm. Chris Berry had a bad start and was working on Marlatt, w ho was c r uising in third. Burkh ar t se t a blist e rin g pace for the win followed by Boyd, Mar latt, and Berry. Boyd wa s on the gas and Burkhart used every trick in the book attempting to reel in the fleeing leaders. As the battle for first progressed, Chris . Berry got by Marlatt for third and set out afte r the lead ers. Boyd and Burkhart were selling a killer pace as Burkh a rt tried to force a mista ke by Boyd . Burkhart jammed h is bike to a n inside line as they bot h ente red the infield sectio n and Boyd fell whil e pursuing Burkhart. Berry and Marlatt took advantage of Boyd 's fall and ru shed by for second and third with Boyd remounting to finish fourth as Burkh art cruised to the win.
