Round 9: Eugene Motocross Track Nyblod, Tamasta nail Eugene Vintage MX By Matt Hilgenberg Photos by Clay Light EUGENE, OR, JUNE 26 ashington's Dallas Nyblod and Californian Joe Tamaska were both doub le-class winners at this weekend's 9th Annual Steve McQueen Memorial Vintage MX, run as round nine of the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association's (AHRMA) Vintage Iron National MX Series at the Eugene Motocross track. There were 210 entries for the day's festivities, and once W I under way, the program ran smoothly. The weather was warm and sunny, which contributed to a bit of dust by day's end, but the circuit stayed in good condition overall. Rokon pilot Tamaska took his first win in the 500cc Novice division, by sweeping both mo tos . Reese Dengler took home second overall ~ith a pair of third-place finishes, while fellow CZ rider Alden Robertson earned the show spot. There was a three-way tie for the +30 Novice overall, with Tamaska coming out on top with a 3-1 tally. Consistent Michael Falccioni (Honda) went 2-2 for second ahead of Deng ler. Nyblod's two overa ll wins came in the 12Scc and +30 Expert classes. In the 125 class, he guided a Honda to the front of the pack in each moto ahead of Yamaha rider Brett Taylor, while Jesse Buckley ended the day in third . Joe Casey led the way to the finish in the .o p en in g +30 Expert moto over Nyblod and Cheney-Triumph 750 rider Steve Monger. In moto two Monger cam e back to lead until the final lap , when he stalled, allowing Nyblod to nip past and take the overall. Casey came home third , giving him the number-two spot for the day ahead of Maico-mount. ed Marty Lukazewski, who returned to AHRMA competition after a lengthy layoff to post 5-2 finishes . Monger resta rted the big twin to finish fifth in moto two, making him fifth overall behind new Expert rider Greg Blazek. Nyblod 's fortunes came to a halt in the 2S0cc Expert class, where Vintage Husky's Tim Nash was the man to beat in both motos, Nyblod led the opening (Left) Dallas Nyb Jod (2Y) and Tim Nash (11V) battled in both 250cc Expert motos.
