~ amaha introduced its 1995 lineup of YZ MXers and its lon e off-ro ad model, the W~50 . Without surprise . non e of the bikes feature an y dramatic or earth-shattering changes, but there are enough significant updates and refinemen ts to keep things interes ting. All four of the bikes - the YZSO, 125 and 250; and the WR250 - will be available to the public by November, the earliest being the YZSO which should be on , showroo m floors by the time you read this. Also returning for '95 will be Yam aha 's extensive MX and offroad contin gency program, w hich is expandi ng its local an d regio nal coverage . There has been a 16% increase in the numberof classes eligible over last year's p rogram . Contingency money will again be paid to professional supercross and national riders by check, while all other riders will be paid in YZ Bucks, redeemable at Yamaha dealers nationwide. The program will be in effect at more than 500 local and national series and events, and anyone riding 1994 or 1995 Yamaha YZ motorcycles will be eligible. Also, those wh o purchase an y '95 YZ model or WR250 from August 1 thr ough October 31, 1994, will receive Yamaha's special wo rks kit free. The kits include a titanium subframe for the YZ250 riders and an Alumilite handlebar and pad for the YZSO, YZ125 an d WR250 ride rs. Kits also include a piston kit, Yamalube kit and front and rear Dunlop tires. The suggested retail prices for the '95 models are: $5149 for the YZ250; $4249 for the YZ125; $2799 for the YZSO and $5249 for the WR250. The off-road W R250(left) features newreboundand compressiondamping settings, as wellasdifferent fork springs. The WR should be avail . amaha made a handful of refinements to the rz250 able in November ·Y (below), including some to theengineIn a search for morepunch at lowto midrange. The enginenow Incorporates a PWK38 Keihin, instead of a Mikuni, carburetor; a newexhaust resonator that is built into the YPV S valve assembly on the left sideof the cylinder; a newenginereed; a smoother intake ma nifold radius, and, like the YZ125, a larger-passageway airbox boot To improve cornering, the offset of the forks has been decreased and thehead-pipecoord inate was moved forward, kee ping b the 1994 YZ's wheel aseand handlebar position while increasing the trail by 5mm. The forkalso incorporates themidspeed valvelikethe 125. Other changes includes newfront brake padmaterial, a stainless steel reardiscbrake rotorandbeefed-up chainguide. Also, theCDt system generates higher voltage at thespar plug, and thespokes no longer k incorporate washers. The 250should hit the showroom floors in October, a month afterthe 125's release. 31
