DeGroot looked ultra smooth in moto one on his
Kawasaki. But lap after lap, Ezerins ga ined
ground on his pursuers. He finished both motos
with a 35-plus-second lead . Ken Masch settled
for third with 4-3 finishes. Robb Degroot was
fourth overall.
The 250cc class wa s a lso a walkaway for
Ezerins. In the second moto, Doug Forstn er,
aboard a Yamaha, grabbed the holeshot, but
three comers later he was nabbed by Ezerins
and t he res t wa s h istor y: anoth er win for
Ezerins. By the fifth lap , a hard-charging Jim
Holmes w as on the heels of seco nd-placed
For stner, w ho bobbled over th e whoops and
could n' t ga ther enough speed ove r the double.
Holmes breezed past the tiring Forstner whi le
th e thousand spectato rs chee red for him; he
was flying farth er than any other rider on the
double. Holmes should have garnered second
overall. bu t he'd opted to sit out moto number
one, so the pla ce went to Forstner with his 2-3
finishes.

wins, riding sm oo th ly and cautiously with no
problems conquering the thick mud early in the
day. It was all Heyrman from start to finish in
Vet A. Tim Miller grabbed second ove rall with a
