Wh ile Joe Bush y d om inated bo th motos in the Small-Bore class on h is Honda, Richard Martin fough t hard for second in the Fou r-Stroke class on his BSA. Marti n raced the same BSA in the 1960s. The bike had been sitting in his shop along with a couple of Pentons unti l the 1990., when vintage racing beca me popular. Martin got a great star! on the BSA nearly led , in to tum one, and put himself in secon d place overall for several laps. The BSA was fast on the straights, but the suspension left some thing to be desired on the jumps and whoops. Martin gradually gave up positions to other ride rs. He finished fifth overall and second in the class - not bad for a vintage bike w ith a vintage rider. In th e 250cc Begi n ner Da rrin C hea tham dominated both motos on his Suzu ki . Fiftee n-year-old Harley Mu rp hy w on the first race he ever en tered w hen he took the first moto in the BOd: Beginner class on his Yamaha over Mar k Olley on a Kawasaki. Thou gh Mur phy fell in the second mota, he finished second overa ll, with a 1-3 score, behind overall winner Olley, who wen t 2-1. . Results VI NT AM A: 1. Scott Wq;nM" (Bul); 2.
