The Pro-Am main event was a "Salinas sweep" as the top fou r finishers hailed from Salinas, California. William Luker led the pack off the line but was quickly pa ssed by Mill er, who took over the point. Luker kept the heat on Miller as the pair put a little distance between themselves and the rest of the Pro-Am riders. Cecil Short and James Pitchford completed the sweep as they argued over the third spot, with Short getting the nod at the finish line behind winner Miller and runner-up Luker .
