IS Turning in a flaw less rid e, Ken Kozlik raced. his KX500 to the overall victory ahead of his old er brother Mike in the Whiplash Motorsports Buckeye Bash 100 in the Arizo na desert near Rainbow Valley. The six-lap, IS-mile course, which was well tom up by the buggies afte r the ir race the day before, was reminiscent of the Parker 400, featuri ng fast roads, fast washes and a bikes-only, cross-drainage ridgeline sect ion. The seem ing ly benigntwo-mile gra ded fann road that led back to the star t w as s titched w ith sharp-ed ged wash outs from the recent spring rains , keeping the racers on their toes . Ken Kozlik did his six lap s in 2:19.23, averaging over 46 mph. Winner Kozli k likened the cou rse, with its ATV competitors and pilo ts, to Mexican events. "Some of those guys need to lea rn some etiquette," Ken Kozlik said . "Th is course needs to be tightened up , bu t it was well done." Mike Kozlik, rid ing in the 38+ Expert class, finis hed six mi nutes behind Ken after battling w ith Cliff Hagen's XR's Only-suspended four stroke for a portion of the race.
