Since the incep tion of the marathon concept in 1967. no one has ever been able to wi n all three of the two-hour classes. but the Harts nearly pulled the deed off and continue to lead in the overall point standings that will culminate with a drawing among the lop 20 in the final po int standings in just a few weeks. The grand prize is a new XRlOO Honda. Joe Bruce, last yea r's overall winner, had a new partner in the first two-man race as Jason Murrell is sid elined with a broken wrist from the Anaheim Amateur Supercross. Bruce teamed with Terry Biel, but his luck ~ntinued to be all bad. a nd th e Hart brothers' C RI25 w as on ce again the class of the field. Vet MXer Rich Tiago was th ird and first in the Iro nman portion over Sp ortsman winners Paul Bergstrom and And y Sibolo. Sean Lollar topped the XRIllO d ivision over Pat Rose and Kerry Puccio. Puccio noted tha t he had missed a few tu rns along the way. " I need a little hand icap, racing with these kids : ' said Puccio. a former San Jose Speedway sprint car champion. To d d Damron led the second of the tw ohour races with 44 teams taking to the two-mile scrambles track, Aaron Hill took the lead on lap two. but the Harts were up front from lap three until the completion of the race with only Hill and Randy Denton on the same lap . Halcomb wasn't noticed much in the early laps of the third race. but took the lead when the Ha rt boys made a pit stop. From there. (#154C) The battle at Unadilla was hot and dusty as Team Kawasaki's Mike Kiedrowski picked himself up from a crash early on to take the 250cc overall win. British Kawasaki privateer James Dobb beat the Yankees as he capitalized on mechanical failures and crashes by the other top contenders to finish first overall in the 125cc class. At Red Bud Track n Trail in Buchanan, Michigan, Team Kawasaki teammates Mike Kiedrowski and Mike laRocco went head-to-head for the 250cc overall win. In the 125cc class.
