At the drop of the gate in moto two, Harris once aga in came out in front bu t this time ran a flawless race from wire to wi re. Barnes was abou t two bike lengths away but could n't quite catch up to Harris. But Harris had to settle for a second ove rall wi th his 3-1 finish while Barnes was first overall with his 1-2 met e wins. Third went to Gunderson with his 2-3 and fourth went to Lee Duval with a 54 finish. Brad ley Rippl e combined 2-1 moto scores to top the Auto d ivision as the Tri State Motorcycle Club held th e third and fina l ro u nd o f the In d iana S tate Mo tocross C hampio nshi p in Butler, Ind iana. Th e Auto divi sion was one of the most po pular classes through the se ries, and today 17 Auto riders went a t it . Rip pl e g rabbed the opening holeshot with Geddy Karrle in secon d. Fred Kar rle, Zack Marshall, Dusstin Pu lley, Coryn Rin ker, Shawn Clark, and Derrick Davis also ran in top forma tion. Kar rle wasted no time gas sing past Ripple in the small roc kers. The top .two riders then pu lled away fro m the rest of the pack on the opening lap. The starl of the second la p saw Karrle opening up a gap over Rippl e as Fre d Karrle and Pulley rac ed tigh tly toge ther. Two seco nds back was anoth er duo of Marsh all and Clark. On the wh ite flag lap , a chan ge in the running orde r cam e when Cla rk displaced Marshall w ith a clean pa ss in the back sec tion of the track in an o ff-camber comer. Karrle crossed the line for the win two seconds ahead of Ripple to card the opening mot a win. The second mot a holesh ot again went to Ripp le w ith Karrle tight in second , broth er Fred Karl e th ird , Mar shall Davis , Pu lley, Rin ker, Kling er, Cl ar k and Mira nd a Kride r com in g through th e first corne r in tha t order. Again , Ka rrle di splaced Ripp le thr oug h th e opening rockers, but he crash ed a few comers later in a section that had puddled from the half- time wateri ng . This section claimed more riders than jus t Kar rle thro ughout the mot o, Rip ple took ove r t he top ru nn in g spot as Karrl e q uickl y remo unt ed. Karr le took ove r the lead thro ugh th e ne w se ctio n co rn er with Rip p le ha ng ing tough in second. Four seconds back came Pulley and Marshall ba ttling for third. The malo was cut down du e to a time conflict, with the white flag coming ou t on the third circuit to Karr le, wh o was holdin g a one-second cushi on over Ripple.
