Transue trounces Washougal MX By Brian Barn es WASHOUGAL, WA, MAY 30 Ove r JOO riders from se ven western sta tes and Cana da converged on Washougal MX Pa rk w ith hopes of qualifying for the Loretta Lynn's AMA Finals, and Forrest Transue di d the job, winning six motos and three class overalls. With in termi ttent rain falling d uring most of the d ay, rid ers braved less than ideal track cond itions to q ualify . Rya n Terlec ki a n d Eric Will iam s were othe r rid ers to reckon w ith, as each posted overall wins in two classes. Trans ue bega n his thr ee-class sweep by takin g th e m easu re o f th e 250cc B Stock cla s s . Transu e ' s ma in co m petitio n w as fro m Case y Johnso n, Ryan Leach, Johnny Williams and Kevin Yeager. The Hillsboro Honda -sponsored Transue is a master of the Washougal start, and he proved that po int race after race by ge tting out front early and hiding from the field. Johnson, mea nwh ile, couldn't buy a good start and had to come from well back on the first lap, slicing.his way throu gh the field on the slippery course. In bo th motes, John son did exactly that, netting the run ner-up posi tion in both rounds for second overall behind Transue. Third overall fell to Leach. Transue's other wins cam e at the expense of riders in the 125ee B Stock an d 125cc B Mod ified classes, as he once again rode near-perfect motos to outd istance Eric Graves and Jus tin Kirkes in th e Stock divisi on an d Johnny Williams and John son in the Mod ified class. The Cycle Trax /JT-b acked Terlecki did mu ch the same to the 125ccC Stock and Modified classes, lookin g almost like a d one of Trans ue. In the first Stock moto, Terlecki led Brian Worthington, Phil Atondo, Travi s Gage an d Jeremiah Kirkes in to turn one . Chuck Tracy mad e some n ice 28 mo ves to put him self in the top five aft er two laps, but by that time Terlecki had put some serious di stance between h is Honda and seco ndplace Kirkes, and motored on hom e for the win . Kirkes netted secon d with Gage, Tracy, and Wor thingt on ro un di ng ou t the top " five. Moto two was a near repe at of the first, with Te rlecki on ce again getting ou t in fron t of the pa ck, but this time it was Tracy wh o foug ht his . way to seco nd place, d ispl acing Kirkes to th ird and Gage to 'fourth near the end of the race and secu ring a spot for the Loretta Lynn 's field .
