CA. ocr.20 "Wild" Bill Sauro pulled off the win in the competitive 250cc Intermediate class a' the demanding Sunrise Cycle Park track, Sauro. who finished second in moro one, came back with gu ns blazing in moto two to score the win and the overall victory. With ternJ?"I"tures just under 100 degrees , David Evilsizer gOl the jump on the 250cc Int erm ed iate pack and led through ' u rn o ne. Sauro, however, was on me gas and was immediately on Evilsizer's trail. Sauro encountered problems though, as the Pro class started on the same gate, and 500cc Pro Tony Sulek was between himself a nd Evilsizer . Lap after lap Sulek pressured Evilsizer but to no avail, and an even mo re frustrated Sauro was never given the chance to even challenge for 'he lead Sulek rocketed out off the starting pad on the second rno to, just ahead of Evilsizer and Sauro. This time Il was all Sauro. as he took command ear ly in 'he race over ' he 250cc Intermediates and defended his lead to the checkered. Evilsizer was the runner-up with Tim And erson edging out Jason Simmons for third The 125cc Pros were also grouped with the 125cc Intermediates, and in moto o ne, Pro Dustin Evans was challenged by Intermediate Tracy Asher . The tw o p ulled away and had a ba ili e of their ow n, whi le Lex Mala n, Evi lsizer a nd Ty Kad y d ueled amo ng themselves. Asher slo wly reeled in Eva ns and la,e in the moto put a move on Evans that carried him in'o the lead . Evans pushed hard to retake the lead but missed a shift over 'he doubles. This error forced a hard crash that took ou, Evans for the remainder of the day . Malan grabbed the holeshOl in moto ,wo, and, after a short but intense ba'tle with Evilsizer. remained out in front to take the overall. Evilsizer went 3·2 for second ahead of Asher and Kady. Dan n y Woodard p ulled off second overall in the 125cc Beg in ner class. Woodard, who recently moved up from the 80cc class, played runner-up to Ben Bejarano. Bejarano aced bo'h mOlOS for the overall, while Chris Rickard, Kevin Davidson and Shawn Dol· mage rounded out the top five, respectively. PORTI.A.'1D, OR,ocr. 20 Keith Pinkstaff won all three class es he ent ered at Oregon Mo torcycle Roa d Racing Associ ation's last meet of the season at Portla nd I ntemational Raceway. Pin kstaff cruised in the morning set of four lap grid qualifiers, satisfied with any finish good enough for a from-row start, In the ahernoon main events, Pinkstaff rod e the Zlock Racing Kawasaki ZX7 to relatively easy win s in the Open and 750cc Superbike cla sses. but Shawn Rober ti made an Open Production class win about as hard as it get s, Roberti. on a nimbler and nearly-as-fast Suzuki GSXR 750, a ttempted to get past Pi n kstaff's Suzuki GS XRlloo on every corner for seven laps, and when Pinkstaff finally slid ou t bri efly m tum two, Roberti grabbed a 30Ioot lead . He held it half a lap before he also spun out trying too hard for a dr ive out of 'urn nine, a nd Pin kstaff sho t back into the lead. Pinkstaff fended off Robert i for three more laps, winning by about a foot at th e checkered nag. .Roberti also ha d a good day at 'he races as he ran away with wi ns in 750 and 600cc Production an d 600cc Superbike classes and finis hed second in the Open a nd 750cc Superbike classes. There was a good ba ule for second behind Rober ' i in 'he 600cc Superbike clas s as Alan Schwen, Simon Bell and Michael Gram traded positions and paint for 10 laps. Schwen. perhaps helped by a greater familiarity with PIR, prevailed over the twO Canadian riders. Another race tha' fired up th e ·spec ta' ors was the rour·way dice for th e win in the Middleweight Superbike class . Kevin Norm... Scou Soper, Rick Gunderson and T odd Yoast were all wilhin striking distance until Yoast dropped out of the race. Gunderson got in fron' o n lap six and appeared to hav e 'he race in hand until Soper retook the lead in the last comer of the last lap with a co llisionl pass that comer workers heard two tumsaway.
