On th e fir st lap o f the first 250cc A mot o , Cox stuc k to Brown, with a similar baule between Ramsey a nd Robert Gerken directly behind th em . Brown, how ever, bega n to pull away from Cox , while th e Ramsey and Gerken battle wa s joined by Dwa in Mill er. On lap two , both Ge rken and Miller dropped Ramsey 10 fifth in th e back section o f th e track. While Brown and Cox rod e th eir o wn races. Mill er managed Gerken on th e next lap an d Ramsey allowed no more passes. The moto ended with Brown way ah ead of Cox, Mill er, Gerken and Ramsey. Cox shocked Brown on the second moto sta rt by grabbing th e point position a nd flying around the one-mile course for nearly two laps before Brown powered around him to claim th e lead , But Cox refu sed to giv e up th e fight a nd stay ed clos e, until the fini sh line. The top five riders set a b listering pace, while th e rest o f the pac k sorted th em selves ou t for th e 20 minu te mo to. Andrews was in charge for the first four laps until he slid o u t in a co mer, giving th e lead to Fo ley an d dr opping back ·to fourth. T he Scott USA-sponsored even t drew 290 riders. Silvarole snagged th e holesh ot in th e fir st 125cc Expert mota , with Ben Dr essn er a nd J oe Ellington close behind. Silvarole led every lap to tak e th e win unchallenged . Brian Austin moved up [rom a midpa ck sta rt to take o ver seco nd pl ace from Dressner with two laps to go . Dressn er finished third. Austin grabbed th e earl y lead in the second mota, with Silvaro le and Aaron Bru shingham following. Six- laps in to the moto, Silv arole made an outside pass on Austin in a sweepe r to tak e over the lead . Silvarcle took the win with Aust in a close secon d. Dressn er fin ished third again which wa s good for third o vera ll . In th e first 250cc Expert moto , Austin jumped o u t front. with Silvarole and Dressner o n his rear fender. Austin maintained his lead and took the moto win. Sil varol e finished seco n d , after recovering from a fall when his front wheel went through a berm. Dressner was third. Austin grabbed another holeshot in th e second mota with Brian Years and Silvarole pressuring him hard. Austins' lead lasted for three la ps, before he went out with mechanical problems. This put Years in th e lead, with Silvarole looking for a place to make the pass. Silvarole never needed to make the pass, as Years threw it away in a fast sweeping berm o n the front straight.
