Rogers romps to Cydeland MX win

Byron Parson roosted a way a t th e sta rt o f
th e first m o to, with Da vid Lackey a n d
Blackburn in close pursuit, Bill Ro gers a nd
his so n, Aar on; gated. poorly, and were la st
and next to last as the field rou nded th e first
turn. U p fron t, Jim Fer guson was mak in g
. short wo rk o f the rid er s as he cu t his way
to seco nd, some d ista nce beh in g Par son. By
m id-race , Ferg uso n ca ught a nd p assed Parso n
o ver the ta bletop. Meanwhile, Aaron Rogers
had mo ved hi s way u p to third, with hi s rather '
follow ing in fifth. With t w o laps to go,
: Ferg uso n lan ded ha rd off a bi g doub le and
appeared to injure himself. As he rode slow ly
off the track, Parson assu med the lead with
Aaron Rogers in seco nd As th e signal was
giv en for the last la p, Bill Rogers shot past
Mike H u lsey to assume third, At the flag , it
was Parson taki ng the wi n followed by Aaron
and Bill Rogers.
As the rider s li ned up for th e secon d mo to ,
Par son a nd Ferguson were absent, Fer f7uson
was detu ned by a hard landing o n hIS gas
lank in the previous race, whi le Parson ran
into some mechanical problems . When the
gale dropped, Bill Rogers shot into the early
lea d and started to motor away from the rea
of the pac k. Hulsey a nd Aaro n Ro gers gave
chase. On th e th ird lap, Aaro n Rogers blew
past Hulsey over th e hill j um p and set o u t
a he r his fa th er. For th e next th ree- la p s, Aa ro n
did his best 10 cu t int o hi s father 's lead. On
lap six, he dr ew up be hi nd Bill as th e lWO
rid ers app roac hed a sma ll double. Aaron
looked to have much more momentum than
his Iather and as th e two landed, Aaron ca me
in side a nd looked read y to tak e h is father out.
Instead, he locked th e rear wh eel and went
down. T hi s a llo wed Bill Ro gers to cruise to
the win ah ead of Mik e Hulsey and Blackburn.
