With Carlson o ut, Cortevill e cruised th e first moto victory wi th little opposition from Roy Brernen our and Tom McLaughlin , wh o together worked u p from poor starts '0 finish second and th ird , respectively. In the second m oto , Cortevill e looked to be o f f to a repea t pe rformance as he took th e holesh ot and led th e opening laps. Like th e first mo to, Carlson turned u p th e wick and began to dog Corteville around m uch of the course. Carlson fou nd an opening o n a flat inside right turn, and slid into the lead On ce out front. no rider co uld mat ch Carlso n 's pace as he inched away to th e eventua l win . Cortevi lle fended off a la te race charge by Brernenour to secu re second place and the overall victory. J osh Stevens put in a hard rid e to rinish fou rth, in front of Sottile. n an T anner to pped the Vet Novice class in hi s second-ever ride as a no vice. Mar c Prince, fell in th e seco nd moto and was able to regro u p for seventh at the finish. Tanner's second moto victory gav e him eno ugh poi nt s to score the overall. Karl Linds trom scored the overa ll win in th e 250cc Novi ce class wit hout winni ng a single rnoto, J oe Haman was unsto ppable in the first m oto a nd easily won . Jeff Dinkin fi ni sh ed a s tro ng seco nd, in front o f Lindstr om . In th e second moto , Haman enco untered mech an ical problems o n th e sta rt ing lin e and was unable to start the second mo to, Kevin Knox picked up the lead and ra n with it to the fin ish , but a di sappoimint: ninth pl ace fin ish in the firs , moro left him o ut of th e top three. Mike Faria came fro m last to first for a crowdpleasing victory in the Scratch main evem at Lake Perr is Speedway. On ,h e fim sta rt, Faria had lD lay i, down in the first turn a fter Bo bby Schwaru a nd Josh Larsen ta ngled . On th e restart, Schwartz steered h is Wesla ke fro m the number two spot o n ,h e gri d inlD first. Gary H icks, Larsen and Faria gave chas e. Fari a, o n ,he Russell Racin g/ Shoei /M J B P la ,ing/Oilzall/Coast Grain · backed Weslake, quickly disposed of Hi cks to mo ve into th ird . Seconds la,er, he assi gned teammate La rsen to th ird . The 31-year·o ld vetera n found himself up to second, and th e race was less th an o ne lap old. By th e ,ime th e firs' lap ended, Faria had it all. He chased down Schwartz and wen t aro und him as th ey com pleted th e open ing circuit. As th ey reached tum one o n lap two. Faria went low and took full contro l of th e lead. Hi cks mad e a charge from the bac k, passi ng Lu- sen firs t. O n the fina l circuit, H icks knifed his way inside Schwanz for th e seco nd spot, but was nowhere near Faria. Rager cruised across th e rinish line ror the firs t mo to win , with Jo yner workin g his way up thro ugh th e pack to finish seco nd. Bap tista pu' o n a lat e moto charge and sett led for third, with McCormick and Seeba ro unding o ut the lOp five pos it io ns. Behind th e lead pa ck was Baptista, who was hard o n the throttle as he made his wa y th rough th e pack. Baptista sliced h is wa y up through th e ranks, fim disposing of Joyner and th en Seeba. Woodard was ho t o n his heels knowing if he wo n this moto, the overa ll would be his. Carrillo was right behind Woodard , and a lap lat er Lester closed on Woodar d, but co uld n 't fin d a line past.
