DEC. 2 Ho use of Honda-backed Mark Blakle y put in two co me-from-behi nd rides to take th e win ,. in the 25-29 year o ld Beginner class a t a rar e Sunday motocross at Car lsbad Racew ay, put o n by Racin g Enterprises. The regular Sa turday motocross was postpo ned until Su nday du e to Rick Johnson's wedding. At the start o f moto on e, it was Troy Arch er with the hol eshot followed by John Dudas a nd Blakl ey. After th e completion of one lap , Darr ell Little had a lso moved in to make it a four-way battle lor th e lead. Blakley be!?n LO make h is mov e to th e front, first passmg Dud as, ihen slowly reeling in Archer. As th ev, began to pull away from the rest of the pa ck j ohn Go ug h ca me all the wa y from seven th to eventua lly ca tch and pass first Little, th en Dudas for third. Wh en th e white flag came ou t Blakl ey turned on th e hea t and new past Archer on the Ca rlsbad downhill. At the fini sh it was Blakl ey with the win followed by Archer , Coug h and Dudas. In rnoto two Coug h grabbed th e holeshot follo wed by Blakl ey, Little an d Brian Ford. Co ug h a nd Blak ley ran away and left th e rest of the field .·Even though Blakl ey didn 't need lO pass Gough for the o verall win, that d idn 't stop him from houndin g Go ug h in every corner. In the 25-29 year o ld classes. riders are not separa ted by engine size, which mad e it di fficult for Blakl ey, wh o was ridi ng a Hon da CR 125, lO pass C ough on a' Kawasa ki KX500.
