Ray Crumb. Smith took th e mo to win
followed by Matson. while Neal finished
fourth behind Crumb and fifth went to Tim
McClintock (6-7) .
The first mo to of the 250cc Pro class featured
a bailie between Smith and Matson. Smith
took the lead over Matson, Danny Paladino
and Crumb. Crumb slid out in lap two moving
Larry Dashwell into the number four position
and moving Crumb to sixth. Whil e the bail ie
for the lead con tin ued. Crumb work ed his way
back to fourth. On lap six. Ma tson was abl e
to make hi s move o n a light (Urn stick. Smith
made a move o n the in sid e bu t Ma tson was
abl e 10 save hi s lead . Matson went on fOT the
win . Smi th fin ished second and Cru mb was
thi rd,
Smith got th e ga te again in moto two over
Dashell a nd Paladino. Matson moved to
second by lap four b ut was unable to catch
Sm ith who was on a runa way ride.

sea so n at the Monterey Co u nty Fairgr ounds.

In the 12-lap. 10 rid er fina l in the 500cc
Expe rt class, Moore led th e wa y fro m star t
to finish . whil e Joe Carrera and Anthon y
Gia mm an co bat tled for second. Carrera held
control of second place for ma ny laps u nt il
Giammanco slid by. Rookie Expert Lo n ni e
Paul ey worked his wa y up thr ou gh the pa ck
for a hard- earned fourt h.
Seven riders lin ed th e starli ng gri d for the
600cc Expert final. Moo re a nd Pauley quickly
moved into first and seco nd as th ey d iced for
the lead . Pauley press ured Moore every inch
of the wa y. but Moore hu ng tou gh and
wou ldn 't budge. At the fini sh . it was Moore
han gin g on for his second win of the nig h t.
while Pauley settled for second. Finishing
thi rd wa s Ca rrera.
In the 50c< class Adam Miller. Bryan Gr ier
a nd Kenn y H eess fo ught toot h ' n ' nail in th ei r
final. Both Heess and Grier effectively used
lapped traffic lat e in the race to pass ea rly
