GREINEVflJ.E, TN, AUG. 25
Kevin Walker and Steve Childres s battled
throughout four motos at the nex t-to-last
Saturday nigh t MX a t the Dallas Ricker
Complex, an d when the evening was over
Walker had beat Childress in all but one of
the 125 and 250cc A class molOs.
When the first 125cc A moto left the line ,
the holeshot went to Childress. Childress
wasn 't accu stomed to the tight Dallas Ricker
night track and Walker ' soon overtook him
and po inted the way, leading the rest of the
moto with onl y a momen tary challen!!" £rom
Childress. Californian David Barrell fini shed
third , wh ile Bill y Cox work ed h is way up £rom
a sixth pl ace stan to nail down fourth at the
fin ish.
Walker easily. pulled the first in the second
moto , leaving Ch ildress to deal with Cox, B
rider Mike Nu tter, Barrell, Je ff Shuler and
Paul Jamison. By la p th ree Walker had
open ed up a four- second lead on the rest of
the field, knowning that Childress would most
li kely come hunting for h im. Instinct proved
correct , and Chil dress reeled him in. But there
weren 't enough laps for Ch ildress to set up
a pass. a nd at the finish line Walker won by
a sneeze. Cox finished third and J eff Sh uler
wo rked h is wa y up from a six th- p lace stan
to take fourth ah ead of Bollinger and Ja mi.on.
Childress holeshot the first 250cc A contest,
but Walker caught him on lap one a nd the
two sho t ah ead of the field. Walk er took th e
lead from Ch ildress, but later was abl e to
remo un t in second as Childress cruised to a n
easy win.
Walker repeated hi s point-position on
performance for th e seco nd rnot o , with
Childress match ing his every move but unable
to make a pass.
