J UL Y 22 Steve Marti n bla sted 10 his fourth Scratch main vicror v, his th ird in three weeks, while Bill Zirlk e p icked up hi. first troph y at Napa in th e Han di cap main event. This was th e first Scratch main th at had the four top point leaden go ing head to head. Rocky Robin son had inched a hea d of Robert Curry ea rlier in th e even in g in points a nd a ll four ar e close eno ug h that a n yone of th em could be number o ne at th e end o f th e seaso n. Martin tried to tak e hi s po le position to the lead a. th e tapes went up. Roc ky Robinson. o u t o f ga te four. had other ideas and kept even with Martin through the tum.
