Andersson aces Windy City Trials By Corina Chen ELK GROVE, IL, J U N E II On a n ei g h t-acre lot i n the El k Grove Industrial Park near Ch icago. a differen t type: of trials evt:rlt was held by the W in dy City Trials Club. Thirt y-rive riders compeled in this three loop even t which co ntained a variety o r challenging sections. T here we re ro ur stadi um-style sections that incl uded 12 giant ei gh t.foot diameter tractor tires , pyramids, balance beams. and see-saws for all classes. The half·mile loo p was di vided into 14 to tal sections whi m consisted of steep dirt hills, boulders , giant logs, and co ncre le slabs. Eisenacher beats the heat at Talladeg a RR By Claire Franks TALLADEGA, AL .jUNE 24·2.> Bill y Eisenacher came away th e big winner o n this hOI weekend a t Talladega Grand Pri x Ra ceway with wins no t only in the Fonnual USA, B Superb ike a nd C Superbi ke, bUI th e o ne-hour endurance race held on Saturday as well. Eisenache r's Yamaha FZR600 performed flawlessly all weekend, turning co nsistent lap times in the 1:01 range. Buzzy Clevenger, a local rider [rom Anniston, Alabama, also had a good day , taki ng the checkered nag in the C Productio n and C Superbike Novice races . Clevenger also claimed two seco nd- pla ce finishes in th e A Pr od ucti on and A Superbi ke races in whim he raced hi s 600cc Yama ha agains t bikes up 1011 00cc. Saturday's end urance race was run in lieu of heal races du e to a shortage of rid ers in certain classes. Seven teen riders launched thei r bikes a t the sig h I of the green li(:ht only to have th e ra ce red -flagged o n th e first lap due 10 a three-rider cras h in turn o ne. None o r th e th ree riders were hurt , and after a 10m inute delay to clea n up the trac k, th e race was restarted. Eisenache r pulled out 10 an early lead th at grew 10 a two-lap advantage at th e chec kered llag ove r second-place Cleven ger, also o n a Yamaha FZR600. Surrall passed for the lead within IWO lurns, and Holley moved in to ~nd in another th..rtt turns. Al th e start of lap IWO, Surrall slid out on th e north side of th e course and Holley had Ih e lead. Surratt recovered q uickly but something had gone wrong with his bike and he pulled o lf th e track less tha n a lap lat er wi th a blo wn engine.
