Team Suzuki motocrossers Johnny O'Mara, Erik Kehoe and Ronnie Tichenor will be on hand to sign autographs at the SCR Racing Open House at the Suzuki Country motorcycle shop in Norco, Ca lifornia, January 27. Speaking of T eam Suzuki, Erik Kehoe says he's " . . . feeling good and will be 100% for the start of the . (1989) season." Kehoe, who finished fourth in th e 125cc MX Nationals in 1988, was sidel in ed during the fina l two rounds of the '89 series with a . back injury suffered at the Troy, Oh io , National in August. The Granada H ills, California, resident wa s in co ntention for th e 125cc Natio na l C hampions hip when he sustained the injury. _ On the off-road scene, Suzuki is officially going to field an off-road racing team for 1989. The threemember team will include defending National Enduro Champion Randy Hawkins. Dave Bertram and Charles Halcomb. They will pilot the new RMX250 with Hawkins and Bertram concentrating on the National Enduro Series and the ISDE Qualifiers and other selected events, while Halcomb will be focusing on the IS DE Qualifiers and special events, as well. Suzuki will also have a contingency program for all RMX250 riders in '89. which will include six major off-road series: AMA National Championship Hare & Hound; AMA National Championship Hare Scramble, AMA National Championship Enduro; ISDE Qualifier; Best of the Desert, and SCORE off-road events. The RMX250 should show up on showroom floors in late March or early April. Rumors that steel-shoe king Ken Maeley is selli ng out or going out of business are false, says Maeley. ''I'll never quit until I die," he says. Maeley has just signed a 20-year contract to design engines for the Peo pl es Rep u blic of China and will travel to main land China about four (Con tinued to page 10)
