CMC/Dodge Truck Trans-Cal Series: " Round 6 Bradshaw scores win at Perris By Ken Faught PERRIS, CA, OCT. 16 Da mon Bradshaw, T y Zitterkopf were am ong today at Perris Race way, rou n d of th e T rans-Cal 20 used a 3-1 tally to top Davis' 2-2 i!1,the 125cc Pro class, J:>ut DaVIS second place fi nish . allowed him to ex pand his Davis and Greg th e big WInners the second-to-last Series. Bradshaw series point lead over Kyle Lewi s 44t:~?~ ca me back in th e 250cc Pro class to shake up Team Yamaha 's Micky Dymond. Dymond survived a .first tum cras h in moto o ne and charged through the pack to pl ace second behind Davis, Davis a nd Dymond started 1-2 in th e second mota , but Dymond could never find th e dri ve to pass the Suzuki p ilot. Davis' victory put him way o u t a hea d in th e series point sta ndings a t 454 to Steve La mson 's 396. Zitt erkopf's wi n ca me in the 500cc Pro class af ter the AT K pilot clearly do mi na ted both motos, R ich ard Mythen leads th e points chase with 385 over Mike H ooker a nd Sea n Conley, who are tied for th e ru n nerup position a t 352. Michael Craig took th e hol esh ot over Bradshaw , Davis, Phil Lawren ce, Paul Vlach and Mike LaRocco a t th e start of th e first I25cc Pro mot a. Bradshaw quickly worked his way to th e front of the pack with LaRocco taking command of second. Bradsh aw's lead lasted four laps before the Yamaha rid er fell back to th ird. Bradshaw's absence handed La Rocco the lead over Davis. As th e race progressed La Rocco slowly pulled away from Davis, while Bradshaw reeled in the Suzuki rider. When the white flag came out, Bradshaw mad e an all out attempt to pass Davis, but cou ldn 't make it . LaRocco took the win three seconds ah ead of Davi s a nd Bradshaw who fini shed 10 seconds ahea d of Lamson, Lawren ce and Craig. Second moto action saw Lewis shoot to th e front of th e pack trailed by Davi s, Bradshaw, Craig and LaRocco. LaRocco wasted no time in di splacing Craig, as Bradshaw powered hi s way around Lewis and Davis on lap two for th e lead. Once in first Bradshaw opened up a small cush ion, with Davis pressuring Lewi s for the number two slot. LaRocco remained in fourth with Craig fifth . With a few laps left, Davis nego'tia ted hi s way aro und Lewis, but couldn't seem to make a dent in . Bradshaw's lead. Bradshaw took the win over Davi s a nd Lewis, with La Rocco and Craig rounding out the top five. rn th e 250cc Pro class things were much more exciting as Johnny Posca got the ear ly jump to lead Dymond, Davis , Lamson and Mike Young into the first turn. However , disaster struck for Dymond as the Yamaha rider soon found himself on the ground aft er colliding with Posca. The first turn confusion allowed Davis to snea k into the lead ahead of Posca, Young, Lamson, Shawn Wynne a nd Ron Turner. As the pack came a ro und to com p lete lap one, Turner had taken over second with Young, Po sca and Lamson close behind. . While Davis pulled away, all eyes were focused on Dymond, who was charging through th e pack. The first turn cras h left Dymond in dead last, a nd th e Yamaha rider appeared determin ed to wi n. At th e halfway point of the 12 lap event, Dymond had fought hi s way around almost two dozen rid ers to take th e fin al top five po sition. Up front Davis held stro ng to his four seco nd lead , while Young wor ked his way around Turner for seco n d. Lamson was fourth. . With onl y two laps rem aining Dymond mot ored hi s way into third and kn ew that he must pass Young for second if he wanted a good cha nce for th e o vera ll. On th e last lap Dymond edge d up along side of the Cagiva pilot and made his bid for th e runner-up position. Dymond tried to tuck underneath Young out of a turn and th en switched to the other side of the track and motored on by down a long straigh t. Davis picked up the win over Dymond, Young, Turner and Lamson. Davis gated perfectl y at the start of the seco nd mota to lead Dymond, Lamson, Craig Davis, Young and Posca. Young in sta n tl y dropped Craig Davis to fifth a nd moved in on Lamson. Dymond trailed Davis by ' three seconds most of th e race , 'u ntil the last few laps wh en th e Yamaha pil ot pi cked up the pa ce and began reeling in Davis. With tw o laps to go, Dymon d pull ed wi thi n th ree bik e len gths o f th e Su zuki ri der an d th en suddenl y s ta rted to slo w. Dymond a ppa rent ly landed hard off a jump a nd kn ocked th e wind out of himself. Davis cru ised th e last lap before tak in g th e chec kers ahead of Dymond, Lamson , Young a nd Davis. The second mota win lockedup the overall for Davis. Dymond was second with 2-2, whi le Young took home th ird via his 3-4 showing. Lamson managed fourth at 5-3 and Craig Davis co llected fifth with 65. . , Richard Mythen grabbed the ear ly lead at the start of the firs t 500cc Pro moto. Mark White was second 'fo l-
