Taking hi s second win in three tries of the n ine event Distr ict 7 series, Fish has shown th e fo rm wh ich ear ned his numb er one pl at e in 1986, whi le Sa tteImeier seemed to suffer th e lapses of concen tration which pl agu ed Fish all of last seaso n. T he two fives Sattlemeier took in sectio ns three and four while Fish went clean were th e difference. Windham wins Wares Ferry Motocross By Ga ry Crider MO NTGOMERY, AL, MAY I Riders from six sta tes were on hand for ro und four of the Georgia Cycle Supply-sponsored Georgia-Alabama Spring Series at Wares Ferry Motocross. Lo uisiana riders Kevin Windham and j o J o Falls topped the J un ior Mini and Senio r Mini divisions, respectively. Windham came back to win the Su per Mini class wh ile Cha d Mont ero , also of Louisiana, clai med 125cc B top gold. Series- le a der Danny . Haynes sq uared off wit h Joffrey Easley in 65cc Mini ac tio n and came away wit h a perfect score while Easley had to settle for runner-u p honors. Easley was satisfied with hi s performa nce and said, " I broke my leg rea l bad last October and I' ve on ly been back racing since March ." Easley and Haynes ret urned in th e Junior Min i class only to see J un io r Mini Louisiana Sta te Cha mp ion Windham run away with both moto wins. H aynes held second in mo to one until h is Ka wasa ki 's frame downtube brok e. H aynes limped to a six th pl ace fin ish. Windham was spectacular in moto two as he ra ced hi s Maxim a/ AXO/ Tsuba ki/ Sco tt/ Bell-backed Kaw asaki to the win by a 40-second mar gin over Easley, wh o claim ed runner-u p go ld. Us ing tire irons a nd hose cla mps, H aynes made an emergency repair to hi s bik e's fram e a nd rode two slow laps to earn the points he needed to stay in th e series lead over J ason Grier. Senior Mini Loui si an a State Ch ampion Falla notched a perfect score in Senior Mini raci ng after a close, second-inoto match with runner-up Bret Beau champ. Peanut Ulrich finished third overa ll ahea d of Andre Pene. In the Super Mini class Windaham, Falla, Beauchamp and series leader Pene matched wh eels for two mot os of close racing. Earl y in moto one Fall a go t by Beau champ and th en ca ugh t race-leader Windham. Windham and Fall a diced for th e lead unti l, as Falla put it, " I sta rted ma king mental errors." Windham won whi le Falla held on for second over Beaucham p and Pen e. Wi ndha m gra bbed the lead at the start of moto two and stayed th ere, netting a perfec t score. Lap two of the six-l a p moto saw Fall a move past . Pene for second. On la p four Falla was set back to fou rth af ter a brief spi ll. The remainder of the moto saw a tight , three-way battl e for second. Pene successfu lly defended his hold on the posi tion over Beauchamp and Falla. Sisemore wants to take the number o ne pl at e away from Eddi e Ingels and has started this seaso n with a jump o n Ingels in the points chase. After being program ed by Viking Computers thi s season, his Scratch starts have been on the money as Sisemore took the holeshot away from Ingels when the gate went up. With In gels in ga te one and Sisemore. in two, Bar t Bast and J ohn H ou ston Jr. were left holdin g th e bag at the turn. With Sisemore hooking up out of th e corne r and in th e lead , Ingels and Bast went neck-and-neck swapping positions th rough th e first two laps. Sisemore sn uck farther and farther ahea d leavin g Bast an d Ingels fighting each o ther. Sisemore never look ed back until taki ng th e checkered four laps lat er. In gels and Bast contin ued th eir d uel with Ingels finall y holdin g down second over Bast. H ouston , not able to ge t in the battle, finis hed fourth. Mark Day and Bobb y H edden were sta rti n!? at the front of th e pa ck at the beginning of the Handicap ma in . Both had their cha nce at the win for a bout a la p a nd a half until H ou ston cra nked up his Classic Fashion /Coca Cola /Tri ck /B ell /Cody Racingspo nso red J awa and blasted past th e early leaders. H ou ston was in fin e form for the six -lapper. After taking th e lead Housto n moved out of sigh t from the charging Bast and Sisemore. Motocross as Team Gree n/Sco tt USAf G ea r/PJ I 's Bri an Swi n k ea rn ed do ub le wins in th e Schoolboy and Sen ior 80cc classes. In th e firs t mot o of the Schoolboy class, Mi chi gan' s Er ic McLear grabbed an early lead foll owed by Blane Armbruster and J eromy Buehl with Swink living up to his nicknam e " Flying Brian" as he picked riders off o ne-by-one to move into second by th e second lap of action. Swink charged for McLear who still maintained th e lead. The McLear/ Swin k duo con tinued until McLear dropped out with a derailed chain wi th on e and a .half laps of action remaining. Swink moved into the lead for th e moto win followed by Buehl and Beechmont Yamaha's upand-coming rider, Bryan Smith. McLear again took the lead in
