Kline, on a Sherman Oa ks Honda, was in seco nd and being hotl y p urs ued by Suzuki mounted Erik Munson, down fro m Fairba nks, Alaska , for so me warm weather racin g. Good go t second overa ll on lap four, then Munson mun ch ed both Good a nd Kline to hold seco nd to the end of th e mot a . Surra tt looked to rep eat in mota two, taking th e immediat e lead and pulli ng away. At least he did until la p four, whe n his chain came off and lo cked u p th e co untersha ft, putti ng Surratt o ut of the race. Klin e had held second from th e start and too k over the lead. Tim T elfo rd worked hard to keep Klin e in sigh t a nd finis hed second a head of Munson. T hat added up to eno ugh points to give T elford second money, while Munson finis hed third overa ll. Good had a no the r easy mota win in th e 125cc Pro class for fir st money th ere. J im Ryder, on a 250 Yama ha , nai led th e mota one start for the Intermediate race and went to a n immedia te lead. Ryder ra p idly rode away with the mo ta and finished wi th a five-second lead over another Yama ha ridden by Merl e Ham mer an d Ka wa sa ki-m o u n ted Sco tt Murphy. . Murphy go t th e drop o n mota two whi le Ryder came off the line dead last. As Murphy sail ed away wi th the lead, Ryder sp ent the nex t nine laps working hi s way up to second and fini shed th ere. T hat gave him th e bes t po ints to tal and first overa ll with Murphy takin g second overall. . Tony Qualls was sporting h is nu m ber o n e p late i n the 125cc Intermediate race a nd lived u p to it wi th two so lid wins for firs t overall. J eff H ar es also had a doub le in the 500cc Interm edi ate class for firs t overa ll there. David Alo isio had two no-contest, wire-to-wire wins to easi ly take firs t overall in the 500cc Novice class. Kell y Wade vai nly pursued Aloisio in bot h mo tos, sett ling for second overa ll. T he 250cc Novice race was also . almost no-contest bu t Ronnie Densford fu rnished his ow n co mpetitio n. Den sford took the mota one sta rt, th en blew a big hol e in the turn three berm, ta king a n unscheduled trip through the sand. He was bac k on the tra ck in m idpack a nd regained th e lead wi th in two laps. Ch uc k Dem sey fin ished second.
