Jones lands Columbus MX win By Susan Willian COLUMBUS, OH, DEC. 12-13 Yamaha-m ounted Mike Jones surpassed all com pe titors to tak e the overa ll wins in both days of ra cing in th e 125 and 250cc Pro classes a t th e seco nd ro u nd of th e Action Spon s /C o or s /B e 1- R a y / AM Asponsored Indoor MX Championship. The first hea t of the 125cc Pros on Saturday. saw Marcu s Sell ards come off th e line in th e front spot. Sellards went out of co n tro l in th e whoops for David Hand to take charge. Hand grabbed th e heat win foll owed by Sellards and David Beckington, Current 125 and 250cc B Amateur Na tio na l cha m p, Steve Childress debuted in his firs t MX since a car acci dent sidelined him. Sti ll a bit sha ky, Ch i ldress crashed in the whoops on th e white flag lap for a no-fin ish in the heat. H eat two of the 125cc Pros saw Brent Blevin the ear ly lead er, as he was hounded by Mike Bias. Bias pass ed Blevins through the wh oops to ta ke the hea t win. Blevins, however , dropped out after a crash in the . whoops. . Andy Michner charged to the front of the pa ck in heat three but was q uickly surpassed by the eventual wi n ner Mike J o nes. A battle for third evolved between Michner .and Thomas Evans. Only the fir st three wou ld transfer to the main. The duo bumped in the final turn as Michner landed the third spot. The first hea t of th e 250cc P ro s saw H and out front with J ones fourth. Jones swiftly glided by ri ders to mov e into seco nd as H and dropped to fourth and Ken ny Kizzar took the lead. Jones hounded Kizzar around the tight tech n ica l co urse taking adva ntage of th e stutter bumps to go by Kizzar for th e win followed by Kizzar and Ha nd wor king h is wa y back to th ird. . Bias led from start-to-finish in heat two of the 250cc Pro despite a ttempts by Cliff Walker to pass. Walker fini sh ed seco n d with Ka wasaki 's Ri ch Halstead taking th ird .
