Pascarella sails to tACR win By Terry Rezek Mike Pascarella flew to victory in the second 250cc Pro moto to lock up the overall win at L.A. County Raceway. his 250 KTM riding in the AA Expert class. J ohn McL emore Jr. ran away with the 125cc B class and won the Novice overa ll in all th e rac es he participat ed. McL emore will mo ve up to th e Expert class in 1988 to compete for Overall Grand Ch ampion. Special recognition was given to the father and son team of Carl and Bubba Dequanno. Carol won the Open B class while Bubba won the J unior class. G eo r ge H o ffer a n d P ee Wee Domin g u e won the Oldest a n d You ngest awards. H offer ad mits on ly to be aro und "5 00" while Pee Wee is-ni ne-years -old. At the awards presentation each class wi nner was awarded a pl aque in the shape of the state of Louisiana. Ward strikes again at Monroe AX By Clay Light MO NRO E, WA, DEe. 20 Larry Ward struck again at Monroe's Arenacross, winn ing two cla sses at th e fourt h of th e seven round series held at Monroe Fairgrounds. Today Ward won th e 125 and 250cc/Open Pro classe s. Also netting two class wins was Ted DeVol. Ward took th e majority of th e purse mon ey home after winning both of th e 125cc Pro motos aboard h is Lynnwood Yam aha-sponsored YZ. Ward held off Rick H am erJackson a nd Aaron Shardlernan in bo th mo tos to ta ke th e o veral l. H am er-J ackson (2-2) and Shardle- man (3-3) were seco nd and th ird overa ll foll owed by J oe Good. Ward came back for the co mbined 25Occ/O pen Pro class and was faced wi t h so me h eav y co mpe ti t io n, m ostl y fr om H am er -J a ck son . Hamer-Jackson . loom ed in Ward 's sha do w in both co ntes ts, but o nce again Ward pr evailed. T ak ing third in the overalls was H u sky pi lot David Rh odes. DeVol collec ted a doub le class deci ma tio n as well, winni ng the Up T he Hill and O pen Int ermediat e classes a board th e DeVol Engineering-s ponsored KX. In the Ope n class DeVol a nd Chris Sta ley traded mow wi ns with DeVol winning the second to cap ture first p lace brass. Ken Workman was third. In th e Junior portion of th e event Honda jockey Sco tt Koch too k 2-1 rides te the trophy presentat ion, R ich Sa ther's 1-2 bea tin g perfo rma nces. DeVol stormed back to win th e Up T he Hill class overa ll, co mma nding both motos. DeVol's com pe titio n came from Mark Murphy. Murphy took seco nd in both motos followed by .Doh n Delarm, wh o was th ird overa ll via 5-4 performances. Chris Gray and Brian Percy rounded out th e top five overall. Murphy wasn't left out of th e overall picture, .ho wever, as th e Yama ha rider ab solutely demolished th e competition in th e 250cc Junior clas s. Scott Browne chas ed Murphy in both motos, but a DNF in the second round put him out of th e picture. Greg Swiling took second pl ace after 4-3 rides. ( H o n~ PALMDALE, CA, DEe. 27 Kawasaki-mo unted Mike Pascarella captured the overall victo ry in th e 250cc Pro class at the fin al CRC meet of the seaso n at LA Co unty Ra ceway. II was Yama ha rider Will ie Surratt winni ng from sta rt-to-finis h in the first mow wit h Pascarella hanging ba ck for second. In rou nd two, however, Pascarella styled to the tiebreak ing mo to win to cla im the win. In the dec id ing seco nd m o to , Pascarella smo ked into th e lead at th e drop of th e green £lag, wh ile Surra tt fo und him self deep in th e field. Wh ile Pa scarella cruise d o ut in front, Surra tt was bu sy laborin g hi s way th rou gh th e pack until he had second place locked by mo te 's end. T h ird overa ll went to J eff Stanford. In th e Interm ediate o u ting, Steve P hillips gra bbed th e holesho t in th e firs t mote with T im T elford hot in second. Telford moved into th e lead fo r good durin g the second lap. Once agai n Telford locked into th e lead ear ly on and fin ished up wi th a no ther moto victory for th e overa ll. Phillip s finis hed second. Gr eg Pierce and David De La ng diced it o ut in th e 500cc bout wi th Pierce finis hi ng up o n top. Expert Bonn ie Warch topped the Women 's race. Warch took the first mow ho leshot with Mindy Smith clos e behind. Smith sli pped back in lap o ne wi th Lisa Peterso n movi ng up to second nd q uickly closing on Warch. Warch go t determ ined and sla mmed the door every time Peterso n came kn ocking. Peterson fin all y got around in the last lap to win moto one. Both Peterson and War ch were ma xed o ut into turn o ne in th e second moto. War ch held it on j ust a li ttle longer a nd took the lead . Peterson was on Warch 's back tire for th e ent ire race but thi s tim e Warch ' had every o p po rt u n i ty blocked a nd took the win alo ng with th e Wom en's Expert trophy. Results BOBEG: 1. Davis dominates mud and snow scrambles By Larry McBride BINGHAMTON, NY, DEC. 13 Glen n Davis took a victory back home to Pennsylvania after notching his first wi n of the winter racing seaso n at th e Square Deal Riders M.e. mud and snow scrambles. Co m peting in the Expert class, Da vi s was a fa mi liar top three finisher and was also famili ar with the p itfalls of th e difficult m ud laden mi le- lo ng co urse. Pu ttin g that knowl edge to work Davis took and held the lead th e entire event with a steady and co nsis tent ride. Racking up three co nsec utive victories in as many races were Joel Nabinger and J am ey Morris, riding th e 80cc class and th e 125cc classes respectively. Each led from start-tofinish befor e taking the checkered . flag. Brett Sh erm an took the win in the 250cc class with a comfortable lead. Levey lands win at Perris MX By David Procida PERRIS, CA, DEe. 20 . J on Levey put his Mission Yamaha into th e winner's circle today when he won the 250cc Interm ediat e class at Perris Raceway. Levey took a third pl ace fin ish beh ind J ason Buttle and J ohn McG innis in rnoto one and then took the point position in mote two and never looked back as he left the rest of the class behind. Buttle DNF m o to two a n d McGinnis cap tured second again, giving him seco nd overa ll behind Levy. David J ennings ro unded out th e top three positions with 4-3 fini shes. In the l25cc Intermediate ranks Mik e Ch amberl ain swa p ped mote wins with Kawasak i mounted Randy Danylo. In mo to one Chamberlain took an early lead wit h Danylo close behind, th en o n lap four Chamberlain went down when he los t the front wheel in a slippery corner. He q uic kly remounted bu t was now in fourt h beh in d Danylo, Tim H odes, and Je ff Fine. H odes attempted to reel in Dan ylo as Ch amberl ain closed th e ga p o n Fine and on th e nex t lap went into thi rd. Up front Danylo was open ing up some breath ing room on H odes, who was now bein g pressured by Chamber lain. The White Bro s. rider shot by Hodes dow n th e whooped ou t back straigh t and into second but co u ld not catch Danylo before he took th e checkered flag. When th e ga te dr opped for moto two Danylo was ca ught with hi s rear fender dragging in th e dirt as his KX hooked up quicker than expected. Chamberl ain shot off into th e lead with Hodes hot on his tail. Danylo was up an d going .and at the midmoto point caugh t and passed Fine. Two laps lat er he put Hodes into th e number three slot but th at was go ing to be th e best he cou ld do as Chamberlain was turning identical
