In the first mota, Davy Mosca _ jam med into the early lead o nly to crash a nd drop back to fifth, gi ving the lead to Sommer. T iger Garcia go t off to a midpack start but quickl y found his way into th e number two positio n , while th e di ce of th e class _ was taking p lace over third pl ace between Greg Mayer and Paul Quinn. Mayer a nd Quinn battled neck and neck throughou t the mota , while Garcia bega n closing the gap o n the leader, Sommer. But tim e ran out for Garcia who finished second behind Som mer. Ma yer held off Quinn for th ird,wh ile Mosca settled into fourth; Garcia timed the gate pe rfectly a t th e sta rt of th e second mota a nd fo u n d hi m self in th e lead wi th Quinn and Sommer in close pursuit. Du ri ng lap three, Sommer go t on the gas and shpped by Quinn, who, once again , was dicing with Mayer. J For the remainder of the race. Sommer was pressuring Garcia fat th e lead , whi le clo se behind were Q u i nn a nd Mayer. Eventua ll y, Sommer's persistence paid off when h e pa ssed G arci a for the lead. Sommers went on to tak e the win followed by ' G a rcia , Q u inn a nd Mayer. , In th e 250cc Novice action, Charlie Flippen topped th e firs t mota, wh ileJason Williams chased the whole way. The two Kawasaki riders pulled away from Dan Stoner and Greg' Pa lermo. In the seco nd round, Fli ppen . Williams a nd Pall erm o j umped out. in front of the pa ck, wi th Dan Stoner . and Keith Stoner ro undi ng out the) top five. On the six th lap , Williams found an ope n ing and darted past William sfor the lead. Flippen, ho wever, stayed close and tried to mak e a pass on Will iams on the last lap , but washed o u t in 'a tu rn , end ing hi s assa ult on Williams .
