Bean shreds Blackhawks HS By Sharon Bean BURR OAK, IN , NOV, 8 Bob Bean, aboard his Action Cycl e/ Scott Goggles-sponsored KTM 350, left all th e co m pe ti tion far behind 'rig h t from th e start o f th e two-hour Blackhawks Hare Scrambles aro u nd th e all new six mile co urse. Rain the night before left th e loamy co urse in perfect condition for ra cing and th e new co u rse was one that almost all th e riders loved , a lt ho ug h th ere were a few who co u ld n' t handle a few tight brush y sections as broken front fenders littered th e g rou nd in o ne spo t. Bean pulled th e tri gger o n his KTM 350 and shot into th e lead fro m th e dead eng ine sta rt a n d by th e end of th e fir st lap had o ver tw o minu tes o n the res t of th e pack. Greg Cox, Connie Fiest a nd Mike Brarnr nlet were a ll going for it in th e 250cc class a nd Cox ca me o u t o n top with Fiest and Brammlett d ropping back in th e pack . Scott Roberts a nd Pat Flynn push ed th eir wa y to th e front just ahead of Ri ck Wal sworth. At. an h o ur a nd a h alf Bean had a o ne lap lead over second place rider H erman Petti t a nd Ken P iekarsk i, a nd over fo ur minu tes o n Cox, who was leading the 250cc class. " I ran o u t of gas tw ice today," sa id Bean . " O nce I m ad e it to the pits o n reserve, but th e secon d time I ra n o u t co mpletely w ith over two mi les 10 go to th e finish. Today's . co urse was th e best ever an d I really felt good, it wa s probably the fastest I have riden in a long time. " In th e 200cc A clas s Tim Carmien and Jeremy G arber pitted Yamaha against Kawasaki for two hours with , Carmien and his Yamaha co m in g out the eventual win ner. 10l . Skipper Ru sch kept his IT 200 at I the front of the 200cc B class despite having exhaust pipe problems and having to ride a very lo ud bike. .
