Rinnerwins Battlecreek HS By Kathie Verdugo BATTLECREEK, MI, SEPT. 27 Honda-mounted Rick R irmer capped offa perfect day by not only taking top honors in the l25cc E class but also capturing the overall during the Battlecreek Motorcycle Club's final race of the season. The challenging three hour hare scrambles took it's toll on many area riders, but Rinner was up to the test. " Ri gh t off the start my handlebars came loose over a jump, so I had to pull into the pits to get them fixed. After that Lhad no real problems. Just set my pace, rode hard and kept the lead. " It was another story for Senior rider, Byron Kibby, when the ignition failed on his Husky after the first lap. "I had real problems in the fast sections because I had nothing above third gear, so I'd coax it through and just prayed it would last 'til the finish." Kibb's determination proved worthwhile with a third place finish. In Heavyweight Team action, it was no surprise to find the Huskymounted Keen brothers, Eddie and Elrod, taking the win and extending their already unsurmountable points lead. With four races remaining in the series, the Lightweight Team of Honda-mounted Eric Rosendall and Dave Leathers, sewed up the sta te championship titl e by taking the win with a flawless rid e over second place finishers Gregory Scha ble and J eff Hunt, also on a Honda. r---------------- I ResulU SR: 1.
