Levey began to pi ck up his pace a nd on the fou rth lap it was a three-way ba ttle for first with the riders less th an 10 feet apart. At th e finis h Levey tried 10 slide undern eat h Bussey but didn't make it. Bussey took the win ahea d of Levey, Bush and Dan ylo. In the second mot o Levey shot o u t of the gate a nd into the early lead. Levey led Bush and Bussey un til the second la p when he cras hed in the whoops. Levey quickly got up and began 10 make up for lost time. O n the third lap Levey caught up to Bussey and Danylo and began to search for a way by, but the checkered flag came out too soo n. II Tommy Bilz and J aso n Coleman romped to wins in the 125 and 250cc B divisions, respec tively, at Ro me Cycle Ran ch MX in ro und six of the Georgia Cycle Supply GAl AL Fall Series. Roswell Honda-backed Bilz, who moved up to th e B class after a third overall showi ng in 125cc C raci ng at th e Lo retta Lynn 's Nationa l, put together 2-1 finishes to win the 125cc B division over Ross Johnsto n and Pau l Clin e. Dan Lipsco mb was leading the fin al moto with two laps remaining wh en he cras hed hard and DNF. Col em an had problems m mo to one and had to sett le for seventh overa ll after posti ng ~-3 fin ishes. Series leader J oh nston emerged with the runner-u p honors, posting 3-3 finishes over Earnest Harbin 's 5-4 tally. Brad J im iso n, who, lik e Cole ma n, has recently returned to racmg aft er an inj ury last sp ring, tu rned in a 10-2 score to net fourt h overall. Stev~ Jo nes'~ 10-3 ~ut h im on top of a five-way lie for third over Paxt on Owens' 9-4 and J esse William son 's 7-6. Tony Morris , who is second in th e poin t race, was off th e pa ce du e 10 a hip inj ury su ffered last week. Morris lim ped 10 6-7 fin ishes, nett in g six th overa ll. Kipp Brule was at th e bottom of the fiveway tie for th ird with h is 3-10 sca re. Series leader Tim Hawkin s finis hed second in moto one but DNF rnoto two . Reggie Martin won the second rno to but a 22nd in th e opening rnoto held h im to ni nth overal l. Ryan Reynolds raced to perfect scores in the 65cc and J unio r Mini classes while Dam ien Brown and Danny Haynes fought for runner-up gold in both classes. The pair battled from start to fin ish in bo th 65cc motos , with Brown holding the edge both tim es in clo se finishes 10 claim th e honors. Ha ynes got by Brown in th e first Junior Mini rnoto but th eir second moto dice ended ea rly wh en Bro wn took a hard spi ll and DNF. Haynes cruised 10 another second to claim th e runner-up slot over Bra ndon Pendley. . The fina l 250cc/Open A rno to was a thriller as H o nda/Pro Line's J oe Rogers hel d Yam ah a / An sw er backed David Kelley at bay for the win. Kelley's 1-2 tall y was still good for the overa ll, however, over serie s lead er Roger 's 3-1. Mid-South Ho nda's Kevin Foley posted 2-3 for third over 125cc A winner Darryl Heisler. In the firs t moto Blood tra iled J ohn Dau th on a 250cc H ond a , as the single -ga te sta rt unleased five Pro riders vying for two separate purses; two riders goi ng for th e 250cc class and three riders go mg for the Open class . Dauth had on ly to beat fellow compe titor Sha wn Freili ng whi le Blood had Bru ce Manzoni and J im Quaschnick wi th which to contend. For the major portion of the first moto it looked as though Blood wo uld be cont ent 10 follow Da uth hom e 10 the checkers as this pair had pulled ou t a sizeable lead over the ot her .three riders o n the course. H owever, la te in th e mo to Blood dove under Dauth and beat h im to th e ap proach of a tabletop jump. By th e time th e pair landed a nd flung them selves in to th e follo win g berm it was Blood clearly in th e lead . Freiling . In the second moto it was Manzoni wit h the holeshot and led th e mo to for the better pa rt of two la ps before Blood reeled him in . La te in th e mo to Da uth also go t by and the moto ended with the exact same finish order as the first moto had. In the l25cc Int ermediate class Kurt Kuh n and Ph il Douglas were nearl y eq ua l co m ing o ut of the second corner and nego tiat ing th e rockers but in th e ba t of an eye Dou glas was down for a mom ent and Dave Rogers zapped Kuhn . Kuhn held o n for second behind Rogers. In the second rnoto Douglas got a bett er ride and took th e win. Rogers' 1-2 eveni ng had the better score and he took the overa ll win. Res ults BO BEG: 1. Anderson, Graves take Albany5X By Clay Light AL BANY, OR, ocr. 3 H onda riders Dan a Anderson and T ony Gra ves carded the Pro class wins at th e 3rd Ann ual Ul ven Forgin g In vitational MX, held at Albany Supercross . And erson won th e 125cc Pro class by virt ue of some lu ck while Gra ves' win in the 250cc Pro division ca me naturall y. It was only the second tim e in the 1986-87 season that such a double-header weekend had been ho sted by Albany. Grav es p u shed hi s Roseburg Honda/ O'Neal/Scott Pro Circuitsponsored Honda into the lead in th e firs t l25cc Pro moto, leading Anderson a nd Kin n ea r Specialtiessupported David Bro wning, also on a H o n d a , ' G r a ve s ' l e ad went u ntouched, ea rn ing the sou th ern Ore gon speedster th e win. Moto two also sa w Graves taking control, leaving Anderson to fend off Brownin g for second. Graves soon found o ut thi ngs 'a ren 't a lways easy as after opening up a big lead , he took a nasty spill on th e 'track whic h was run backward. Graves' cras h netted him a brok en wheel, but for And erson , th e news was all good. After cruising in second, Anderson inheri ted the lead. due to G raves' bad luck and took hi s firs t overa ll win in the class at Albany Supercross. In the 250cc Pro class, Graves fought off a rider th at wou ld be his nemesis all weekend, Nicky Blasdell. The battle lasted th e enti re first moto. Graves too k the win wit h Blasdell second and Don Biscegli a, third. Moto two was mu ch the same. Grav es an d Bla sd ell too k turns leading until Graves broke free in the later stages and motored into the day 's largest lead, good for a I-I win over Blasdell (2-2) and Bisceglia (33). T he Intermediate classes, especia lly th e 125 and 250cc classes, have been above par lat ely. T oday's 125cc Intermediat e class offered som e of th e best racing see n th ro ugh o ut the entire seaso n . J eff Daily rode to II wins o n the PJ I/Sco tt-spo nso red Kawasaki, but had 10 come from behind in both mo tos. Daily held off Lance Rudge for th e Will. Capping off a Kawasaki sweep of the class was Mike Bishop, th ird after 4-3 rides. Aaron Boeh mer and Canadia n Darcy LaLonde battled in both 250cc Int ermediate motos, with Boehmer using a first-mote win and a second in moto two 10 take the overall awa y from seco nd-moto wi n ner Tracy Bethel.
