Evergash finished third overall. displaced by Mike Rusden on lap five. Bridges had a bad start but was moving through traffic and took third on lap six. He pressed Rusden until the last lap when he squeezed by. Koelsch moved up to fourth over Jason Fletcher, Lloyd and McDonnell. . Kiser led the Junior final around on lap one but the birthday boy, Corsetti, had his Alma Transport! Shoei/Corsetti Racing/Hog Wash/ LBC Leathers/Ron Woodsponsored Wood-Rotax in front on lap two and pulled to an easy win. Majeski took over second from Kiser . on lap six and Estelle followed one lap later. Craig Howard held fifth over Mike Scott and Scott Saunders. Texter, Estep and Ingram took the top three positions from the start and they never changed. A distance back Bonesteel led Burkholder and .Rausch. The battle for fifth would heat up as Miller and.Les Washborn moved through the field pulling Mike Reid with them. Brow dusts Experts at Travelers Rest ST By Loren and Barbara Williams TRAVELERS REST, SC, SEPT. 13 Paul Steverson-sponsored Garth Brow kicked up the dust on the clay oval at RiverSide Speedway to take home the Open Pro win, giving himself a nice birthday present In the heat race it was Brow out in front ahead of Chades Freeman and Kenneth Barr while Tommy Sisson blazed a trail·through the dust' to catch up. The start of the main found Brow, Sisson, and Freeman reaching the first turn almost toget4er. Brow got the edge as Sisson put himself in second. Barr was still at the head of the pack at the checkered flag followed by Freeman, Sisson, Barr and Jack Surber. . Miraglia makes comeback at Ba,Iands MX By Mike Vancil FREMONT, CA, SEPT. II Steve Miraglia returned to action following an injury at Baylands Raceway Park, and finding no other Open Intermediate competition was forGed to run with the juniors and beginners. Miraglia came away with the lead after the second corner in the first moto and left the pack to battle for second. At the checkers it was beginner Larry Cerini who was closest to Miraglia. • In the second moto Miraglia bobbled and had to settle for third in the early going. By the third lap he was able to move around the two beginners and when the checkers came out it was Miraglia the overall winner. James Rianda was second across the line and third went to Paul Fusco, who took the Beginner class victory. Phil Couglas used Miraglias' machine in the Veteran Master class and took double moto wins ahead of Duane Hughes. Loren Williams (Kew). , Jones rolls at Top Gun Motocr~ss By Hugh Gatlin OZARK, AL, SEPT. 7 Yamaha/Kawasaki of Ozark backed Keith Jqnes was the big winner taking a pair of green machines to overall wins in the 125cc Band 250cc C classes at the Top Gun's first Labor Day race. Jones also posted a win in the 10-lap main event held at the end of the day. Jones started poorly in the first 250cc C moto and had to play catchup while Honda rider Stanley Weed ran ou tfront. Jones caught and passed Weed at the halfway point for the win. In moto two Jones followed Honda mounted Vince Addison in the early laps. Jones swept wide at the end of the long, terraced front straightaway and dove under Addison. He pulled away and took another win while Addison held on to second. Weed was hampered with clutch trouble in the second round. The 10-lap main event featured riders from all classes competing together. The Minis started in the first tum with the 125s, 250s and 500s staggered back towards the starting line. Jones opted to ride his 125. After passing early leader Scott Stephens, Jones ran away from the pack and scored his' third win of the day. Brian' Robertson and Scott Stone placed second and third on 250s. Results 250 c: 1. Kessler tops Englishtown MX By Rosanne Lukaitis ENGLISHTOWN, NJ, SEPT. 6 Mickey Kessler took the overall victory in the Open Expert class today at Raceway Park. Kessler worked from third to first to take the first moto win, then led the second round from start to finish. Honda Support/KPS-sponsored Jerry Seip grabbed the holeshot in the first moto. Seip took a good lead with John Thompson aboard his Kawasaki right at his back tire. Heading over the rockers Thompson took the inside line and got by Seip. Kawasaki Motors/KPS-sponsored Kessler had his sights set for the lead and was right behind. Seip quickly relinquished second to Kessler as he charged after Rossini Racing Product/Mongomeryville Cyclesponsored Thompson. Thompson tried to hold off Kessler but lost his lead over the rocker section of the track. Thompson got a little squirrely into the first tum but held onto second. Under the checkers Kessler copped first, Thompson second followed by Dave McLean, Freedom Cycle-sponsored Jim Kapitan and Seip. Kessler grabbed the holeshot in the final moto with Somerset County Suzuki-sponsored Bob Sorenson powering his KTM right behind. Over the Suzuki Steps and into the back section of the track Kessler started to pull away from the rest of the pack. Seip made a pass stick on . Sorenson to gain second, then got a little out of shape over the start! finish double but held on. Meanwhile McLean put the pressure on Sorenson and powered by and started to push Seip. In the back section of the track McLean 'made a pass stick on Seip and moved into second. At the fimsh Kessler took the moto win and first overall. McLean was second in the moto and overalls. Mitchell MX win 1/ By Hugh Gatlin FORT MITCHELL, AL, SEPT. 6 Columbus House of Yamahasponsored Shannon Brooker rode to first overall in the Senior Mini class at round one of Flo Mitchell's Fall MX Series. The win give Brooker 50 points with five races remaining. Kawasaki rider Charlie Cutts holeshot the first moto with Brooker second. Brooker began to slowly reel in Cutts, finding a way around on the fourth lap and taking the win. Bob Long placed third. The second heat started under a steady rain with Bama Honda/ Kawasaki rider Joey Crawford putting his KX80 out front. Brooker . went down on the slick track early in the first lap. While Crawford enjoyed'a comfortable lead, Brooker was churning the track in an effort to salvage a top finish. He passed Long for second and set out after the frontrunner. With a five second lead and the moto win in hand, Crawford's frame snapped below the front motor mount on the last lap. Brooker charged past for the win while Crawford eased his pace to insure a second place finish. 31
