Felicio led off from the zero and made 311 the rigbt moves as Sizemore heJd an inside line to make more forward moves than Robinson who stayed wide too long. Geranio closed in on tbe white flag lap with Sise-. more making the big pitch off the last turn only to have Martin get around him and in the closest of finishes to date, Felicio won over Geranio and Martin with Sisemore over Robinson. Ingels looked like he wa last out of the main event nongate, but once again, he was first off the turn and led all laps. BLOU TVILLE, TN, JULY 4-5 Rain all night Friday night and heavy rain Saturday turned this weekend's race at Blountville into more of an enduro. All of the riders who survived are to be commended. Texas rider jeff Dement was the ironman of the day Saturday, as he took home doubJe class wins. Dement won the £irst moto of the 65cc Stock class over lac Bradshaw 'and topped Jason Harden the second time out for the overall. Chris Orue won the first moto of the 85cc 7-11 Stock leading every lap, but Dement took second and charged back through the mud to win ,the second moto and the overall. Matt Shue carded a fourth and a second for second overaJL. Gene Naumec made his long haul from Connecticut payoff as he took home the overaJl in the 125cc Stock 12-15 class. He led the first moto from tart-to-finish and followed Todd Downs in the second time around for the class win. Eddie Adair was smootb and consistent, as he won the l25cc Modified with two second place finishes. Naumec won the £irst moto and Downs won the second moto, but both had problems in their other moLO. In the 250/500cc C class, locaJ competitor David Lester showed his tuff as he easily won both motos. Tim jennings powered to second the first moLO, but got stuck the second moto and jason Alday' finished second after having pulled the hole hol. Barry Higgins and Tony Distefano had a heated battle the first moto o[ tbe 30+ SeniOT class. As the moto wore on, Tony D's smooth style pulled him ahead [or the win. Distefano fell on the first lap of the econd moto and Gary Keith took the lead and held it for two laps before Diste[ano worked his way through the mud and pulled ahead to win. TAYLOR, AZ, JUNE 28 ADRA's number one plateholder jeff Darland took his thud overall win in a row in the 1987 Desert Championship Series with his smooth ride at the 12th Annual Snowflake/Heber 100. Darland brought his Sunnyslope Honda/AXO/DuralubelTrick Gasbacked CR250 in with a time of 3: II :27 to average 40.11 mph over the 120+ mile jaunt for the 250cc Expert win. Off the start, Open riders Bob RusselI and Pat Prosser pulled out front. with Darland in third, Bill Watkins fourth and Todd Johnson fifth. About a h31f mile out, the racers had LO dismount and run across a road. Darland grabbed the lead here with a strong run. "I don't know what happened to Bobby," ·Darland said later. "I guess he doesn't have any legs." It was later learned that Russell (a DNF) was among many racers who fell victim to unnamed fast-food outlet. Darland put his dust-free position LO good use and built up a I ;44 lead after the £irst 30 mi les. "I rode smooth, it was good, and I didn't crash or make any mistakes,': said the 22-year-old. "It was a fast course for a 250. I really had LO work that £irst lap. I'd like to thank john Miller of Sunnyslope Honda and my super pit crew for helping me win. I'm determined to keep this plate at least another year." Watkins held second by the first timing point and stayed there 311 day for the Open Expert win. Todd jobnson was third overall, second Open Expert, two minutes behind Watkins. Mike Powers was next in for second 250cc Expert and his best ride of the season. And taking it "easy" in his first race since breaking his leg, Husky's Garth Sweetland rounded out the top five for the third Open Expert position. His time was just over 10 minutes off Darland's. jerry johnston was the quickest amateur with a time of 2:32: 17 LO average 37.82 mph for the Senior Expert win and a two-plus minute marg'in on the over311 and Open Amateur winner josh Giles. KTM pilot John Kelley was third in for second Senior Expert, jusl seconds ahead of 250cc Amateur winner Dan Fargen, and filling out the top five was Randy PUll, second Open Amateur.
