eted into turn one, they were dead even. After they banged their way through the corner, it was Hilland in the lead, much to the delight of the .screaming Canadian fans. He was followed in order by Church, Borgman and Lewis. On the third lap things got really imeresting when a charging Borgman made a bold double pass and took the lead. On lap four, Church and Lewis were dicing heavily and crashed. This incident allowed Borgman to dart across the finish ·line ahead of second place Hilland. MARYSVILLE, CA, MAR. I Gary Morris, who has absolutely dominated the 250cc Intermediate class over the last three races, had another excellent ride again today at Marysville MX. Morris missed the holeshot, but gained the lead by the first right hand turn and never looked back. He powered his Honda to an easy victory 10 moto number one. Finishing second was Stacy Smith. Rounding out the first three was Hondamoumed Howard Gordon. The drop of the gate for the second moto had Morris blasting his way to the holeshot with Smith right on his exhaust pipe. The Morris/Smith show was a rerun of the first moto with the two separating themselves from the rest of the pack almost immediately. Morris developed a 10 second lead. over Smith, who was some 14 seconds in from of third place Gordon. Midway through lap three, Gordon on his Honda started to reel in Smith. He closed to within two seconds of the second place Honda rider. Smith sucked it up and turned it on, rebuilt his lead and held it to the checker. Morris breezed to another well ridden first place and a first overall. Smith took a second on the day and Gordon captured third. Honda-mounted Ron LaPointe put together back-to-back moto wins to take the Open Pro victory. Kurt Jorgenson on a Honda grabbed the holeshot with the tart of moto number one; Bill Jamerson, was ·gluded right behind and used the short straight to make a pass and take over first. Jorgenson had regained the lead over Jamerson with LaPoime in third. As they completed the first lap, Jorgenson held fir t with Jamerson less than a second behind. LaPointe maimained third with Jed Green, on a Yamaha, fourth and being pressed by Honda rider J.J. Taylor. Jorgenson entered a turn with Jamerson closely following, when Jamerson's Honda stalled. As he tried to start the bike, LaPointe, Green and Taylor shot past. On lap three, Taylor slipped by Green and his Yamaha for fourth. By lap five, .LaPoime was sitting in Jorgenson's . shadow. LaPointe made several altern pts to get by the Honda rider but had the door slammed in his face every time. LaPointe used a little more throttle to take on some very big whoops and out-jumped Jorgenson and grabbed the lead. Jorgenson was successful in taking the holeshot again with the start of the second molO. LaPointe was holding second, with Jamerson and sat. April 4 . ·M Cal Expo 8P AL CH""'p\ONSH\P .• .
