Spangler fakes MSTbysform By Peggy Adamic MALVER ,OH, MAR. 15 Kawasaki Team Green's Dale Spangler reeled off four moto wins in both the 125cc A and 250/0pen A classes at Moto Sport Trails in Malvern this weekend. Chilly temperatures and snow didn't keep nearly 100 riders from attending the first race of the season. The 17-year-old Spangler took control of the first moto passing Greg Wheeler in the second turn to take the lead. Spangler ran away with the moto, finishing over one minute ahead of second place Wheeler. The second molO was a duplicate of the first as Wheeler grabbed the lead off the line, but Spangler took a full lap before taking over the top spot. Once ou(front, the end result was the same as Spangler quickly ran up a large winning margin. The 125cc A classes were pure Spangler runaways as he led each moto from the drop of the ~ate to the checkered flag. Pete MaurIce and Suzuki-mounted Mark Weaver swapped second and third place finishes with Weaver taking second overall with 3-2 moto finishes. Ken Frankenberry mounted his '87 Honda CR250 and walked away with four moto victories, first taking the Senior Division One class and completing the double class sweep with the 250cc B class motos. The winningest 1986 CRA Amateur motOCTosser, Bill Penick moved from the 125cc C class into the B class and continued to dominate the class. The Yamaha-mounted rider took double moto wins. Second place finisher Mike Cain kept a close eye on the front runner in the first few laps before Penick pulled out to a 2O-second lead.
