Loo ...... ca_ wet conditions, a good-sized turnout of riders attended the event with Tallon Vohland emerging as one of the big winners of the day, winning both the 125cc Intermediate/Junior and 250cc Intermediate/Junior divisions. One of the day's more convincing class wins was that of Rich Mythen, who guided his Honda to first place in both motos of the 250cc Expert class in come-from-behind fashion to take the overall victory. Mythen also won the first molO in the 500cc Experts, but his bi~-bore Honda sprung a leak in a raditor hose while waiting for the second moto start and he called it quits. As the first moto in the 250cc Intermediates roared off the line, Vohland nailed down the holeshot followed by Yamaha rider Tim McClintock and Kawasaki pilot Nick Blasdell. Vohland looked to have the better drive out of turn one, but McClintock got past early in the first lap. Vohland was on the gas and was back in first place three turns later 'hl d ' V 0 an was In cornman d from that point on and went on to stomp the competition. McClintock spent the rest of the race in second and Blasdell held onto third. By the time the second moto rolled around, the races had to be cut down to four laps, so there would be enough light to run the remaining motos. Vohland again nailed the holeshot followed by McClintock and Honda-mounted Tony McGrath. By the end of the second lap, Vohland and McClintock had pulled away, leaving McGrath in a solid third. By the fourth lap Vohland had a. huge lead of 15 seconds and cruised home for the win and the overall victory. McClintock and McGrath rounded out the top three at moto's end. The first 250cc Experts moto saw Kawasaki rider Ken McKenzie grabbing the holeshot with Mythen hot on his trail and Dave Wood in third. Mythen continued to follow McKenzie for the first four laps until he was finally able slip past and take control of the lead. McKenzie gave chase but eventually tired out t:rying to keep pace with Mythen. As the race came to a close Mythen finished way out front followed by McKenzie and a distant Woods. The- second molO was nearly the same as the first with the same three riders involved in the top three spots. Woods took the holeshot followed by McKenzie and Mythen, but both McKenzie and My then got by Woods and took over the top three spots. A few turns later Mythen started to reel in McKenzie and stayed fi1;lued to his rear fender until he pulled off a smooth inside line pass a couple 6flaps later. After he got by McKenzie, Mythen never looked back and easily scored the win, McKenzie was again second and Woods was third. In the 125c Novice Division One ranlc.s, Eddie Reed had the early lead followed by David Meek and Pat Bennett. On the second lap, Meek went down going over a jump but was up quickly enough to hold onto second, even though Bennett had closed the gap. Near the midpoint of the race, Reed had pulled out to a sevensecond lead on Meek, with Bennett right behind in third. Meek tossed it away in a rough section and ended up on the ground, handing second to Bennett. Once he got by the downed Meek, Bennett puJled to within reach of Reed and on the same lap, he moved right past Reed and claimed the lead, taking the moto win. Reed held on for second and Meek was able to come back to take third. In the second molO, it was Steve Arena who led the pack into turn one with Reed and Bennett in close pursuit. Bennett was able to snake by Reed only to drop back to fourth and crash shortly after that. Bennett was up quickly enough and had to finish in front of Reed to claim the overall win. Reed made it easy for Bennett by falling down. Bennett went to work on catching second place rider Meek and was
