APRIL 11 12 noon WITH .JUNIOR PROGRAM • , ,. . Mesecher scores at Red Mountain .... Enduro SI': By Bill Herndon RED MOUNTAIN, CA, MAR. 8 KTM-mounted Robb Mesecher ran off and hid from the competition for the second time in two months at the Family Racing Association's monthly family enduro series. Mesecher took the 250cc AA class win by two minutes and dropped 3.268 points. "I had a good ride, no problems," said Mesecher. A large turnout of riders tackled the course and after three straight days of rain preceeding the event, traction conditions were superb. A large entry of 175 riders tried their luck. in Saturday's poke.r run, riding a 12-mile course for cash prizes to 10 winners. Riders left the Searles Station Road area pits at the start of loop one where Mesecher was the only rider to record a z.ero on the loop. Brian Balager took the overall on the Family Loop with a 5.325 point total and also claimed the C-16 200cc class aboard his Honda. Darren Rivers dropp.ed 6.213 points for second behind Balager and first C-16 250cc ahead of Rod. Luker, Jr., who lost 7.313, Stein Peterson, 7.347 and first Beginner Steve Hanussak at 7.421. The rough course caused higher numbers of Kid's and Women's class riders to drop out of the race than usual, but class winners included first B Mini Kevin Cleland at seventh overall and first B Woman Lori Boretree at 10.59. Riders rolled out for loop two after a gas break into a 30mph section and made their way through the rest of the loop. Some riders found themselves getting lost and missing turns due to losing track of the ribbons in the faster sections. Mesecher had the least trouble and ended up taking the overall win' by two minutes over Lowell Spiva. The FRA's Jon Jacobsen said, "Loop two was set up to get everyone on their toes from the start from three * * * * SHOBERT R.
