SteIner steady at WoodlandMX By Derryl Anderson Daytona International Speedway WOODLAND, WA, JAN. 24 DAYTONA200 BY SUPERBIKES Kawasaki-mounted Bob Steiner finished with a steady 2-1 ride to win the overall in the 125cc B class of the motocross at a muddy Woodland MX Park. Days of torrential downpours continued right through race day making the lrack a deep, soupy mess. In the first moto Art Channey got me holeshot ahead of Steiner, Scott Hickson, Lance Rudge, Joe Casey and Derek Hughes. Hughes went around Casey on lap two and Rudge was pushing Hickson, finally getting by on lap four. Everything remained the same for three laps until Rudge stalled and lost two SpoLS. At the checkered £lag the order went Chadsey, Steiner, Hickson, Hughes, Rudge and Casey. Steiner got a super hoJeshot in the final moLO followed by Hughes, Rudge, Casey, Hickson and Chadsey. Hickson and Chadsey got by Casey on lap three as everyone srruggled with the muddy track. Chadsey passed Hickson on the next lap and a lap later he went into tbird as Rudge slipped to fifLh. Casey had a problem and was out for the rest of the race. Chadsey was the next one to pull off eventually losing two laps before returning to the race. At the finish it was Steiner, Hughes, Hickson, Rudge and Chadsey. In the 250cc C class Scott Hart took the lead ahead of Benjamin Wagenman, Erik Munson, Chris Studer, Alan Redfield and the others. DRAWER S • DAYlONA BEACH, FL 32015 By Curt Comer LE OIR CITY, C, JAN. 4 The 13th Annual Brown Mountain Lights Enduro was hosted by the Vnifour Trai1'Bike Club and started at the Playmore Beach Campground. Although the temperature was below the freezing point, there was still a good turnout of riders for this SETRA event. The race consisted of two 30-mile laps with riders returning to the start area for the gas stop. The trail wound its way high up into the North Carolina mountains where there was as much as six inches of snow on the ground. Many of the fire roads were covered in ice which made for treacherous going especially on the faster parLS! In places, the trail opened up onto very large off-camber rock slabs that produced some anxious moments with the ice and all.
